What's the latest decent non-runflat tyre recommendation e9x
Discussion
Hi all,
I know Falken 419's used to come highly recommended on BMWs as an alternate to the run flats, in terms of both budget and performance plus with the better ride by ditching the run-flats...
Is this still the case? Or is there another recommended non Run Flat tyre for BMW e9x's? I've a M-Sport, so 18" wheels if that makes a difference to suitability.
Cheers,
Mark

Everyone will be along shortly to suggest whatever their car has fitted at the moment, (I have Pzeros)
In all honest, any of the major manufacturers modern tyres with an extra load side wall will be fine.
+1. Match the load rating and make a call. I used to swear by P6000s on my old 328i Touring - everyone else seemed to hate them! And pretty much anything that isn't a runflat is an improvement. In all honest, any of the major manufacturers modern tyres with an extra load side wall will be fine.
Mine's on Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta. I gather they don't make them anymore though (although you might still be able to get a set as I got one recently for a puncture). They do have a replacement, however.
I've been very happy with mine. Decent wear rate, decent grip and decent NVH. And the price was very good. About £100 less for a set than the GY Eagles and c£200 less than Michelin PS3

Lol very true, I have Uniroyal sport contact 3's and very pleased with them, total confidence in the wet but it's to be expected being under the continental umbrellaIn all honest, any of the major manufacturers modern tyres with an extra load side wall will be fine.
I had Michelin PS2s, Michelin Pilot Sport Run flats, Falken FK452s, Bridgstone RE5050 run flats on my E91s.
I would say from best to worst were...
PS2s
PS run flats
Falken 452s and Bridgestone RE5050 in joint last (both nasty).
Depends what you want from your tyres really?
I am a huge fan of the Dunlop EffcientGrip tyres at the moment, extremely comfortable, the quietest tyre I have ever heard and they seem to have more than enough grip wet and dry for me.
I went from 17" Michelins to 19" Dunlop Effcientgrips and expected them to be much firmer but hoped the noise level wouldn't be much worse, however, not only were they so, so, so much quieter, they were also more comfortable too.
Oh, and my MG increased by almost 10% too.

Quick bump, just had 4 UniRoyal RainSport 3's fitted, and the difference in ride is immediately apparent!
So, all in all, well worth the swap. Now, to Ultraseal or not!?
