Please help as im hoping it is a simple fix. I have a bmw with latest idrive and have tried to put my music onto the hard drive via the usb in the glovebox, this however has copied over all of the songs but put them in one a to z list of songs with seemingly no way of playing a particular album.

Do i really need to create seperate album folder for each group of songs or is there an easier way?

I copied the track using an imac and just dragging and dropping from itunes into the usb folder which worked for both my Mini which should be the same sytem and my alpine stereo which cost significantly less than my idrive system.

If it matters it is a z4 with proffessional nav.

Thanks for reading have a good day.

As far as I'm aware, it will be just as you have found out. If you drop all songs into one folder on the usb stick, it will copy them onto the hard drive in the same way, i.e you'll have everything in one 'album'.
So, yes, if you want to be able to play specific 'albums' you'll need to put things into appropiate album folders in the usb stick, for the idrive to identify as albums. This is what I do, and it works fine.

Damn it, this is what i suspected massively annoying though as its the same usb stick i use in my mini which sees everything as albums and the mini is idrive as well.

Oh well i guess i will delete and start again.

You need to have the USB stick formatted in Fat32 (I think) and the albums must be in MP3 format.

I normally just copy the album folder directly into the root of the USB with no additional folders of file paths.

Put the USB into the USB in the glovebox then go to music collection in the I drive
