thats stevie in his now twin turbo granada.

Looking at a few photos of time slips he was trapping high 150mph in the 1/4 mile

It looks like the turbos are making alot more power than his old blower

It's very eco friendly...it's been around for 35 years, so no wastage ! It's just been modernised with a much more fuel efficient engine.

I've a couple of sets of wheels, I keep the 16's now for the drag tyres and 17's for road/track as there are more tyre options.

Although these days 18's would make more sense.

Right lane traps on the day were a tad high vs reality, but via VBox I did manage some in the 150.x range, but not higher.
Oddly left lane were a fraction low

"Only" managed 190.08mph over the 1km...VBox and logs said 193.5mph at 1km ( 182.5mph 1/2 mile ), with 194.5 VMax probably a few feet later just before letting off.. Cant complain really...but 200 would have been nicer lol.
Without some aero mods it just wont happen though, as car is going light around 185-190 and it's breaking traction again.

And whilst it's the wrong thread...as I cant find the right one.

At the weekend, I never seen oil temps higher than about 108degC, coolant temps highest around 95/96degC

Me lol.

I'll chuck one pic up from underneath, hard to see much really.

It's nothing fancy, no fancy manifolds etc...Just simple and what seems to work. It's a little different from the pic, only in as much as I added small silencers to the w/g exits. I'll probably re-route them back into the exhaust at some point, it was just easier to vent them outside

looks nice Stevie. I fancied wastegate exits via the front wings, low down of course.

Not exactly rear mounted but I like the idea of putting the turbos underneath to keep the heat out of the engine bay. How do you stop them sucking up water if you go through a puddle?

I avoid puddles LOL

They certainly arent rear mounted, they just ended up where was most convenient....I was amazed I managed to squeeze them in, but it wasnt easy, and yes air filters are the biggest compromise.
Heat was less of a concern vs ease of build, repair, maintenance etc
Leaving the top side clear means easy servicing, plug changes etc Mounting low means easy downpipe exit too, which would have been a nightmare for high mounts...and even when it was a Rover V8 TT with turbos near the headlights, there was only space for small downpipes.
But yes low also presents other problems

I could make shields or make up bendy pipework to lift the air filters up to a higher location and also get a better size of filter, but it's easier just to avoid driving through large puddles.
Water spray with wet roads will no doubt see some water ingested but so far it hasnt shown itself to be a concern if it is happening.
It started raining on Sunday afternoon and pretty much rained the entire 260-270mile drive home ( went via lake district before heading home )
It isnt the first I've drove in the rain anyway, so no big deal. Turbo inlets are still a good 6" from the ground and also slightly in front of the wheel centreline, so at worst they should see some spray, rather than any direct hits with water.

And yes Gurmeet, they're BW 300's

Interesting stuff. I guess you could always reroute the intake so the air filter is in the engine bay ? I wonder what a red hot compressor housing will make of cold water?

Out of interest, why did you get rid of the centri? How do you find the turbos power delivery by comparison ?

Compressor housing is alloy and never gets that hot. Space would be tight on my car to high mount filters, but yes I could do it if I really had genuine concerns. I just dont, not enough to make the effort to move the filters.

Turbine housing a little different, obviously it does get hot.. It's been like this now for a year and a half and I've driven in heavy rain. I see nothing so far that gives me concerns...but as said, I'm not about to drive flat out through huge puddles.
But then that should apply no matter what setup you have. Perhaps if it was my daily and it was common to have routes with unavoidable puddles, then yes I would re-locate the filters

Main reason for moving away from the centri was simply I needed more power, and that blower couldnt give me it. Any next step up in size from Vortech was just far too big, and to change brand would have cost even more with new brackets etc
And the belt drive wasnt as reliable as I'd like, although at the end I did have it well sorted but I'd already made the decision by that time.

And...I wanted the damn thing quieter. Not so much inside the car as it wasnt that terrible, but outside that blower made a lot of noise. Now the car is rather oddly quiet inside and out !

Power delivery...just different. It isnt as exciting now, it doesnt feel like it has the same urgency, but ultimately it is faster now.
Even though the blower may not have made boost at lower rpm's it was still providing a lot of air to the engine and it definitely helped performance off boost.
It isnt lacking now by any means, but it just doesnt have that instant hit when you touch the accelerator.

Plus with turbos there is very easy access to multiple boost levels, so it's just far more versatile ( in conjunction with a good boost control setup of course )
