What a poor transfer window so far
Discussion
Others will have their views but for me it's been poor. No massive additions to the Prem teams, i'm talking absolute top drawer players, they all seem to stay in Spain, go to Germany and even Italy fighting back now.
The money is certainly there but the top players aren't going for our top teams.
Talk of Ronaldo, Bale, Pogba, Vidal etc is pie in the sky, we just seem to get moderate players at a massive fee or others who are a bit past their prime.
For me the best signing so far is Benteke, can't understand why United didn't get him, He would be sensational in my opinion.

Last season we saw Di Maria, Ozil move to the Premiership, but I think you are right, the real stars are going to Barca, PSG or Madrid. How they afford them with FFP I don't know, but we are getting a lot of the "middle of the road stars" to the premiership because of the money paid in England.
Also no-one had a bundle of extra cash to spend e.g. Spurs when they had the Bale money and it looks like Man Utd are the ones making the big investments. Liverpool seem to have made lots of signings, but none which massively inspire me to think they will challenge for the title.
I hope it will liven up soon, but it would take a massive signing to make me think the Premiership has moved alongside La Liga

I;m sure Ozil was the year before last & it's Sanchez you meant Mr JK ,
Sanchez was by far away the best of last summers buys.

I think Benteke at United would be fantastic. At Liverpool i'd back him to be the leagues top scorer this season.
Schweinsteiger will be a decent addition but past his best.
Still, time will tell.
He's the captain of Germany! He's only 30! Won the world cup last year and the Bundesliga for the last 3 years. Benteke isn't fit to tie his laces!Schweinsteiger will be a decent addition but past his best.
Still, time will tell.
But, I do agree that Bentekkers will be a good striker. Not a top striker, but a decent one.
Hopefully theres some mileage left in the transfer window yet. Benzema? Ibra? Ramos? Surely there's going to be a world class/superstar player sign.

Still got another 30 odd days to go yet.
Sterling for me is the best signing so far, a little overpriced maybe but he could be the next biggest english star.
Really good talent but I always worry when players sign for city etc at such a young age. A lot have fallen in to obscurity. Sterling for me is the best signing so far, a little overpriced maybe but he could be the next biggest english star.
Fingers crossed he smashes it.

I'd think all of the Top 4 are still going to bring players in.
The point I was making with Schweinsteiger is.....
I accept he is a very good player, a World cup winner and more but that was in the past. At 30 a player can (I'm not saying is) can be well past his prime. It's very rare for a player of that age to change clubs and really shine for a decent amount of games a season. Likewise Ibrahimovich and Ramos, both for me would be prolonging their pay day rather than really giving their best years.
I think we will soon see players in their prime going to the MLS as well and that will create more options for the top guys.

I think Schweiny could end up being a bit of a RvP. He'll have a good season, but how many after that will be blighted by injuries and not being able to keep up with the physical demands on the Prem? As has been said, both transfers can't really be judged until at least a season or two has passed. But, I do agree that Bentekkers will be a good striker. Not a top striker, but a decent one.

I think both are on par. Schweiny is celebrated because of his past - Benteke has all the potential for the future.

Lampard and Terry are two very good examples of players who have if anything improved at 30+. I accept he is a very good player, a World cup winner and more but that was in the past. I'm 50/50 on Schweinstiger, if he was at the peak of his powers there is no way Munich would of sold him.

I've only heard mostly City and Liverpool fans trot out the line about Schweinsteiger being past his best. So what? At 30 a player doesn't turn to st over night. The same Liverpool fans saying that about him will be the ones raving about Milner when he has a half decent game no doubt despite being older and not close to Bastian's level at any point, so what does that make him I wonder?
I'm not saying you're a Liverpool fan (although I suspect the one saying Benteke is the buy of the window so far is a Liverpool fan...) but it is quite a predictable thing to say about Schweinsteiger just because he's over 30. Carrick is very influential for United and is even older.
We've signed Bastian fking Schweinsteiger and I can't wait for him to prove the doubters wrong.
I son't understand why Liverpool have bought Benteke, as he's just not their kind of player. They offloaded Andy Carrol because Brenda didn't see a future for that kind of player in their set up, and in Benteke they've bought exactly the same type of footballer.
Time will tell but I think he'll flop at Liverpool.
