Hi Guys.

Don't mean to drag up an old dog but we do have to do it every year and times do change. The last few years I've been with Admiral in various guises (Elephant, Diamond) and was paying circa £450-500 for MY07 V8V, clean everything, 6k P/A protected NCD and one other driver.

Last year was £424, this years renewal (price hike) was £560. The comparison sites were starting at £484.00 and that was for Performance Direct, who had to call me to verify and were absolute jokers when they did, I decided to give them a miss.

Called A Plan, who have a specialist performance division in High Wycombe. Cut a long story short - Better cover, less excess, can use AM to repair (you will lose courtesy car though if not on their repair list) and was only £400. Also, you speak to someone who seems to now what they are talking about.

Not trying to advertise for them but if they save you a few bob...

I'm currently use Hiscox through A Plan. Agreed valuation etc and a quality policy but not for £400.

Perhaps your policy will be with another insurer on their panel?

Was with Aegis and they valued the car at up to £38k. Also no increase for adding N400 sills.

As my DBS purchase is approaching the 180 day mark I'm looking to purchase GAP Insurance imminently, further to Big Ry's thread ????

This will cover me for a shortfall of up to £50k for the next 5 years......all for less than £400 !!!

I will get this back in Insurance savings alone over the term of the policy, as the fear of being paid out market value is removed smile

Unless there are any decent Insurance Brokers around to talk me out of it whistle

Aviva through A-plan here. Quality cover via an efficient broker. Only problem is no track day cover so will be considering Locktons come renewal time. Does anyone know if you have to be an AMOC member to get the Locktons policy as the on-line quote form suggests you might?

Another vote for A-Plan Private Clients. Was not the cheapest quote but they understood my car and situation so worth paying a bit extra for the peace of mind. The actual policy is with Aviva.
