L’Etape London by Le Tour de France - "The official TdF legacy sportif"

Three route options, 42 miles/508 metres (@ £40), 92 miles/933 metres (@ £46), and 117 miles/1161 metres (@ £48). All three look to start and finish at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and end with a lap of the Lee Valley VeloPark.

The longer the route you choose, the bigger the proportion of the 2014 TdF Stage 3 route that you'll actually get to ride. Sadly nowhere near as close to the actual TdF route as the PH tour organised by Gruffy earlier this year, with no Cambridge, and no Mall finish, but an interesting one all the same. I found out about it from Cycling Weekly, while thinning out some of the emails I received while I was away over the last two weeks, and hadn't seen it mentioned on here. I thought I'd mention it as it looks to be the sort of thing some folk here on PedalPowered might be interested in doing.

YJ saw this as well while knocking around the usual online places, I also was going to start a thread but you have beaten me to it. Start times are quite sensible so I would be up for the longer distance, a sensible paced PH group could be good craic!

Time to start a list?

I had an email with an early bird offer from them a few months ago. Have to say I dismissed it. If it was on closed roads it would have been different, but it seemed quite a lot to ride open roads I've already ridden a few times this year already.

Oh dear, I'm sounding like the forum curmudgeon. Would be delighted if the event proves to be more than just another sportive, and if so would enter next year whilst eating humble pie.

Already doing a local Sportive that day. YJ, you should join up for it - Frimley hospital one (the looked after my wife's dad for his last few hours so we always look out for their events) - heads off down to Farnham and Hindhead so takes in much of the local nice stuff. A nice easy distance as well at 50 miles.
