Hi all,

What events can you take part in with unmodified cars?

Ive done a few track days in my Boxster and I want to explore what else I can stretch the vehicle on without modifications.

Cheers.

Sprints and hillclimbs if running in standard production road car class.

Yep I think sprints and hillclimbs will be your friend.

All you need to add is a timing strut (basically a vertical piece of metal sticking out the front of the car connected under the number somewhere, and a sticker enabling a marshal to quickly see what direction to turn the key in to switch off.

Then you want all your safety kit as well - helmet, gloves and romper suit are all mandatory, but you can (strangely) do it in carpet slippers if you so wish.

Sounds like an abort to me.

Time attack has a clubman class (I think) for unmodified/road vehicles as well.

Thanks guys.

So hill climbs - this is where a section of a normal road is closed off and you take it in turns to record a time. Fastest in class wins?

Time attack - a single rolling lap of a race circuit.

Sprint - I'm not sure what this is?

Hill climbs can be on closed public roads, but there are also a good number of dedicated venues - Prescott, etc.

Sprints, like hill climbs are against the clock with no other vehicles around you, but differ in that they are held at race circuits and other venues such as airfields and tend to be longer and often involve higher speeds.

Time Attack is similar to sprinting but you are on track with other vehicles and can decide when you want to go for a time (I think) but have the other cars on track to negotiate around.
