Seiko: Which watch?
Discussion
Longtime lurker, of the Watches sub-forum, first time poster.
I'm probably not a dedicated watch collector as many but have always appreciated a good timepiece, particularly Seiko.
Thinking of buying a Seiko SKA617P1 but there isn't much info on the watch on the internet so wondered if anyone is familiar with it and can shed light on its merits (or not).
Alternatives, that have come up during my search are listed below but all the choices are making my head spin.
Some advice, from the more knowledgeable, would be greatly appreciated.
Seiko SKA615P1
Seiko SNZF17
Seiko Prospex SKA371P1

What exactly are you unsure about?
Seiko is a brand you can have confidence in buying, so it's really just a matter of buying whichever model grabs you.
The only thing to say is that the Seiko 5 is an automatic, whereas the rest are kinetic, which uses a rotor like an automatic, but to charge a capacitor to power the quartz movement.
There's no right or wrong choice over movement, it's whatever you prefer or think is best for your usage, etc.
If you remove the watch for a couple of days or lead a fairly inactive lifestyle, then the automatic will stop, whereas the kinetic will still be ticking away for a good few weeks.

I currently have 3 Seiko's including the Prospex diver but with Rubber strap £128.00 on creationwatches.com, BTW the kinetics are a lot more usable than the Auto' my 10 year old premier kinetic has lost minimal time and still looks good.
Have a look on creationwatches all come with papers you just pay an extra few quid for a Seiko box rather than a generic one, much much cheaper and a great selection.
