Problem is, it's not just paying for Amazon Prime, it's paying for the better broadband service I'll need to allow the quantity of data required to start streaming TV at a resolution that's fit for purpose. Hopefully the repeats on Dave won't be too far behind!
We have Prime and stream to a 65" telly over a 2 meg broadband.Infact since moving from 60 meg cable to 2 meg broadband I've been surprised at just how much remains possible. It's not nearly like the dark ages I was expecting.

Most are less than a fiver, and delivery is free.
That's odd, their terms suggest otherwise;http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.h...
Sure you haven't accidentally signed up to Prime?
Odd decision. I can see why Amazon have done it (to try and bolster the weak Prime Instant Video offering) but I can't see the economics working out for them. Probably a better fit than Netflix though.
Thought Sky would've been in pole position to take over, make it a NowTV exclusive/premiere thing and punt it on to overseas to make money on it. Amazon, if they include it in the Prime streaming without PPV, are limited in how much extra cash they can wring it for (non Prime markets, repeats etc.) and will be counting on it increasing their subscribers and reducing churn.
Me? If it's free to Prime subscribers I'll wait until they have a few episodes up and then use a free trial to check them out. No way I'd pay for Prime again.
Then again, what do I know?

I use Amazon for ste that is expensive in supermarkets. Batteries, lightbulbs, that sort of thing. Most are less than a fiver, and delivery is free. Even if delivery is 3-5 days, so be it.
I'm just at a loss as to how many people really like the next day thing. I can't think of anything that Amazon sell that would be an urgent purchase, repeatedly throughout the year...
I buy enough that is very difficult for me to get elsewhere (eg school set texts for the kids, IT ancillaries). The vast majority of it is not urgent to me, but nearly all of what I buy through them attracts postage charges which across the year are more expensive than a Prime subscription. Amazon, for all their faults, also offer a deliver to a collect point in a local shop which is extremely useful when they were using Yodel as their carrier. Top Gear is the icing on the cake and they have probably retained themselves a subscription with this move as my kids will be at Uni this year. Sounds like a good reason to avoid Amazon to me. These three twerps have been long past their sell by date for some time. They've been make ridiculously self indulgent nonsense with the same old gags week in week out. I wonder if they'll still think it funny to make references to willies and say the word cock on the new show.
Literally millions of people think you're wrong. They'll have more creative freedom, no broadcaster rules and regs to worry about and they'll be able to be as outrageous as they want. That said, they have a winning formula already based on the number of viewers who watch it around the world.

Although, without the BBC to play the bogeyman to three kids it may lose something? if you get what I mean. Sometimes it is the restrictions that create the art. How did this become a discussion of delivery Amazon times/methods? I am sure there are other platforms for this discussion - I think SAGA would be a good place to look.
I thought the last series of TG was the weakest by far - the trio just ended up doing re-hashes of previous episodes, and this was evident in the trip to south America too (the reaction in Argentina not withstanding, but to be honest I had turned off before this point). It felt like a last series before it was taken off air
If they come back on Amazon the series will need re-thinking, but obviously appeal to the legion of fans. It seems to have become less and less about cars and more about stunts and silly projects. Having said that the highlight was surely the car for old(er) drivers.

Because this is the Internet and people get funny about things has no benefit to them, therefore can't accept why anyone else would bother.Prime Delivery + Instant Video + Music + Unlimited Photo Storage + Kindle Lending Library is pretty good for £80 and almost a no brainer if at least two of those are of use to you.

Hopefully by 2016 Openreach will have sorted my connection beyond its current 1.5mbps.
It'd be nice to choose if I want prime.

I watched every single episode of Clarkson / May / Hammond era TG, even the India special, so I would very much want to watch their new project.
I'm the opposite. I lost interest in it in the last few years as it was just becoming silly and rather boring. For me they peaked with features like when they went in search of the best driving roads in the 997 GT3RS, Gallardo SL and Aston N400. It had the best blend of cars, driving, locations and blokishness without getting too silly.
Once they started doing stuff like building their own caravans I just lost interest.
I can't see the Amazon stuff being much different so I won't be bothering.

FT reporting the deal was for £250 million - nothing like a bit of hunger to spur you on to your best work!
I imagine that that will be over several years and subject to various targets and requirements. Plus, it may also include the production budget also. Regardless, good for them. Funk said:

Millions of people watch eastenders too despite it being complete gash. I've watched every episode of Top Gear. At it's best it was sensational, especially the photography. I just don't see how they can keep It going with more contrived challenges from the producers and the news section which is about as amusing as syphallis. Let's see what Evans and Button can come up with They'll have more creative freedom, no broadcaster rules and regs to worry about and they'll be able to be as outrageous as they want. How many places can 1 person log on with Prime?
If i have a log on, and its online, can't i just share my log in with my mates so we can all watch on a single prime membership?
I already pay for Netflix, and have no desire to pay again to watch 1 show (I'm quite happy to wait 2-4 days for my delivery).
