England won the World Cup. I was six at the time and although I'm sure that I was in front of the TV on the day, I don't remember watching the game.

Does anyone on here have memories of that momentous occasion?

I would have been nearly 4. I remember the 68 Olympics but my first football memories are from 70, probably because my family's team won the FA Cup. I recall the semi and the final and final replay like it was yesterday. And the 70 WC too....watching the final at my rich uncle's house......so rich he had a 24" colour telly. fk...it was huge!!!

I was only 3 but I can remember watching the game with my old man. My Dad was even able to returf part of our back garden lawn some years later with some of the '66 pitch when the Wembley pitch was relaid the next time since the '66 final which from memory was around '71/72 ish.

Whippersnapper yourself, young 'un.

I was nine at the time and remember my dad doing backflips when Hurst's final goal went in.

Yeah, I watched the whole game. I remember my mum going off to make tea at full time and my brother jumped up in excitement and broke the armchair when England scored their 3rd goal! Yep, happy days...

I was 11 and back in my home town on holiday with my family .We watched the final at my uncles house with my dad and two of my male cousins (12 and10 year olds) all the females had gone shopping .
After the match us lads ran around the streets with a 4ft diameter England rosette (remember them ?) .It was like the pied piper as more lads joined us running and cheering and chanting ENGLAND .Then spent ,until darkness sent us home , playing football in the local park .
