New ST220 owner! Recommended specialist garages, London-ish?

Hi gents! I recently swapped our old Mondeo Zetec S estate to an ST220 estate. All I can say is... 
Question:
The engine has developed an odd rattle or almost "fluttering" noise under revs in the few months I've had it. The older boy I bought it from only pootled it and barely used it, whereas my... more enthusiastic driving (cough) seems to have brought out this issue. A local garage thinks it might be a sticky tappet and suggested a tappet cleaner, then if that doesn't work they'll strip the engine down to investigate. Thought it might be better to just take it straight to a specialist who's probably seen it all before though, who will hopefully work out a cure a bit quicker. Any recommendations please? I'm in SW London but willing to travel (within reason) for the right guys.
Background:
The Zetec S was supposed to be a cheapie runaround "in-between" car for just a few months, but both my wife and I fell for it and we ended up keeping it 14 months. Then the urge simply got too strong to swap it for its big bro -- damn that fast ford bug!
The ST220 is 2006 with pretty much all the options as far as I understand, except sat nav, with just 62k miles, mint paint and leather, passed an inspection easily... and I paid just £2,750. The older chap I bought it from paid £5,000 just a year before then found it too thirsty, and for some reason just assumed it'd have depreciated hard and advertised it well sub-£3k. Feel like I stole it!!!
