As above, when they play up or fail, what are the symptoms ? Clutching at straws, but could it be the reason my one won't now start ?

Not had one fail on me but I believe initially they tend to play up when they are hot, cutting out is typical. When they go then the car will not fire.

I have a spare one if you want to try it out, I took it off my Griff when I thought it was playing up but it turned out to be the LT wiring, I'm in Crowthorne not too far from Hampshire (depending where you are)
