I'm finally getting round to thinking seriously about getting a lift. There comes a time when crawling under a car loses its appeal. However, one of the things I would want to use it for is pressure-washing the underside of the car after a rally. I'm favouring either a single post or scissor lift (mainly 'cos I don't want to wash the car off in the garage, so need to be able to move the lift outside). But I'm told that modern lifts have too many electrical components and should not be allowed to get wet.

Any thoughts or recommendations as to how to solve this issue ?

You may want to look at the weight of these things, my scisor lift is north of 200 KGs, it's got tiny wheels to aid moving it around a bit......but you wouldn't do it very often before popping your back out!!

Not worried about the weight of it - the loader on my tractor will make easy work of it ! I think I'm probably heading towards a scissor lift.
