Porsche 997 turbo speed yellow (2007)
Discussion
Does anyone know this car or the dealer ? I am certainly tempted to buy another 997 turbo. It is top money though.
Thank you

I don't think that is expensive, Turbo cabs are rare and even at the bottom of the market for 997 Turbos about 2 years ago they were very few for sale under £50k. I couldn't live with that colour personally but that's up to you. I've also heard that it needs an exhaust to sound as fast as it goes.Thank you

I think the price is fair given the generous spec and mileage, however for some reason I seem to think that particular car has been for sale for a long time. Don't quote me on that as I maybe getting confused, however as there are so few Speed Yellow cars out there they tend to stick out when advertised amongst all the blacks and silvers. Also I assume as there is no mention of PCCBs that it just has painted calipers?
FWIW I really like Speed Yellow even on a Turbo. Not sure I'd actively seek it out but wouldn't turn down the right car because of the colour.

Not a fan of turbo cabs at all, but that seems like a good one
Bit naff to paint calipers IMHO, I cannot afford PCCB but will try to fool you into thinking I did
No heated seats in a cab - silly for £300 option
Like the yellow stitching and console
"Painted finish on side skirts" - oh no it hasn't but would look a lot better if they were along with front and rear lips

I called the dealer this morning, they seem knowledgeable and very friendly. I do not think I would have a problem buying a car from them. I asked though if the car had been tested to see if it had been over rev but they told me it is very unusual to do an over rev test on turbos, it is done only on GT3. I did not insist but I do not think they are correct. The car has
been serviced every 2 years with a yearly, minor and major service. There is no evidence though of the clutch having been changed or any other work having been done on the car. I am still thinking about it but the lack of invoices is an issue for me.

So they are saying that you cant over rev a turbo? What utter bull!
I am afraid that this is typical salesman behaviour.
You are 100 per cent right. When I sold my 996 tt on SOR through JZM they did a detailed report of my car including whether it was over rev. This is a critical test on turbos. I would never buy a turbo without making sure this test was ok. To be fair on this dealer though when I said that if wanted this car to be tested by an OPC such as Porsche mid Sussex they had no objectionI am afraid that this is typical salesman behaviour.
I agree it would be very unwise to buy such a car without a proper rev ranges check. A lot of Porsche specialists such as JZM, 911virgin, Harbourcars etc do this check as part of their pre sale inspection. I suspect that if I decide to buy the speed yellow one (I love the colour) i could organise this check at OPCs etc.
Any Porsche specialist will have a Durametric or PIWIS diagnostic tester and should be able to read the rev ranges within about 10 minutes. This will also give you the the engine hours, so that you can work out the average speed of the car over its life. This is helpful to make sure the car hasn't been clocked. i.e. very low average speed.
Thank you all for the responses.
I may have found one that on paper is nicer than the speed yellow one
although black is not my favourite colour.
Does anyone know about this car ?
Parr has a very good reputation I believe.

Thanks, the black one at Parr has now been sold before I had a chance to see it. It looked great and paper and Parr's reputation is excellent. Anyone on this site bought it ?I will try to see the yellow one at the end of this month but if anyone has any information on it before I see it I would appreciate. I agree though with the comments made by some that the car is expensive but hopefully the dealer will agree to reduce the price. If I cannot find a good 997 turbo that I like, I will look at a DB9 Aston Martin (i love the shape).
Here is another one that looks good on paper although I am not sure about the interior.
