I took the xf out for a heavy drive to clear the exhaust etc , as only been used for light driving. used the paddles and although didnt get near the red line or any messages up ...... the car now drives like cr^p ??? gear changes all over the place, looks like a reflash at the dealers . but the question is why should a hard half hour do this ? also now hear a light knocking from under the centre consul poss handbrake cable touching???? could this be linked some how, any knowledge out there thanks all

The gearbox does learn how you drive, and will change gear to suit that style. I'm told it bases the changes on the last 500 miles of driving. So drive like a loon, and it'll change to be in the right gear for loon driving.

The handbrake is electric, so something else knocking probably.

thanks fat the gearbox feels almost unable to drive as it now wants to change up and down within seconds of pulling away and then feels like its in too high a gear etc constantly changing, re the knocking have read on forums that the cable can hit the drive shaft ??? how ever the sound has only started with the gear issue booked in for a reflash at jag next week we will see thanks

update one of the dpf sensors had come out and wrapped itself around the propshaft, thus ripping the wiring loom , reason for the very poor running, gearbox fine tho.

Oops. Glad it's got a cause and remedy.

it wasnt plain sailing tho, the xf was remapped prev, (well known 3rd party) with the dpf removed and jaguar tech had to remove the remap to enable their diags to find the fault and reload the standard jag map, this meant the soft ware wanted to detect the dpf and the sensors etc so few miles down the road restrict performance came up as it was trying to regen or simular, confused the ecu etc !!! However the remap guy was happy to to come back out to me and remap once again, just done 50 drive and so far no issues bit paranoid still lol, will up date another 100 odd miles or so.
