Well, as per the title my ebay bargain is sounding like a drill. Win some you lose some.
Caveat emptor, as they say.

Question is what do I do with it? The rest of it is really quit good, I don't have enough room/ time to break it and fixing it seems to be a four figure sum?
Anyone want a project?

The same thing happened to a friend, however it was a while back and the car cost a lot more. Very common for SAAB engines to sludge up and fail.

The vendor was a magistrate but had misrepresented the car (FSH not complete) he refused to take the car back or pay towards a repair and the car was eventually broken for parts.

Sadly there are/were so many SAABs for breaking with good bodies and knackered engines that he did not manage to sell anything except the tyres.

I saved the leather seats and transplanted them into a couple of ice cream vans for him, the rest went for scrap.

Just read that. Gutting mate.

Wheels & 308 brakes should fetch a few quid and easy to shift. The 308 callipers & carriers are a popular mod for the older 9-3 and the wheels always get snapped up.
Aero perforated steering wheel should be easy to shift, I paid £40 for mine.
Check what audios fitted, not 100% on the 9-5 but might be a few bits there worth getting off and selling?

Stick an add up on UKSaabs, Saab central, saabscene, saabsforum.

If you can break it you'll make your money back then weigh it in.

There's plenty of bits that are worth a few quid I spose. Trouble is I can't rally have a half broken car sat on the drive for months! I sold the DI cassette from my last saab for £50 but I need to be able to move this one about. Looks like I may end up driving it to the scrappers in one piece. frown
Depressingly cartakeback.com have quoted me £60 ouch!

edited as i've just checked your profile and now know it's an aero !!

you should be able to claw your £450 back without having a hulk on the drive though so all's not lost. wheels aren't the most desirable, probably £80ish, the TD04 has good value, the lights will always sell. interior not too easy to shift but try the fronts on ebay for the VW van crowd. although the 308 fronts are sought after they're not too expensive from neo's etc (it's only the carriers that are really needed for the upgrade) but prob 3 figures with a pair of good discs. DI pack, ECU etc easy to get off and move on just not for vast amounts. the audio will sell well if it's the HK with amp (make sure the purchaser gets the VIN as well or divorcing and re-coding will be a fail), steering wheel, any displays that have full pixels etc.

the only stuff really selling quick at the moment are uprated items and even then it's random. the usual suspects will go reasonably quickly but you'll end up with a load of stuff sitting around just getting in the way if you strip it right down (go on, ask me how i know that)

i've seen 205 to 235 transplants at around 800 all in, presumably a like for like swap would be quite a bit cheaper? erm, just can't remember who was offering that deal though

I am always looking for 9-5 Aero's. Might be interested depending on where you are in the country. Drop me a PM when you have decided what to do.

CJ Saab Services does Engine Replacements, and also does Retrofits of the earlier B234 REAL Saab engine from the older 9000 series.

If you can source an engine, either a B234 or a B235, he can do it for you. But hes in South Oxfordshire.

Additionally, if it only just started knocking, and you stopped right away.
You might get away with just new Big end shells, and a full sump clean.

Assuming the main bearings did not get damaged.
