Blaenavon to Newport

I am looking for more interesting route back from Tumble Mountain to Newport, We usually head up to the steel horse Cafe in the mornings and then head up over tumble stopping at the pub. The only downside is the route home, Built up and rather plain.

Does anyone know of a good route back from Tumble to Newport?

It is pretty much one route down unless you divert over the Varteg and the British, even the other side of the valley you have the Llanover road that takes you back onto the Abergavenny to Pontypool main road.
