I tried out the shell Pay and Go service today, works a treat!!! no going into the shop to pay, download app to your phone register your paypal account, turn up at the pump point phone at the bar code select payment amount and then fill up and the pump stops at the desired amount and drive off, sounds a bit of hassle but definitely not, and it also adds the shell points to your account too so no swiping that through at the till. top marks Shell

Yes you can, i put in a limit of £100, if it takes only £30 then thats all you will be charged

I've been using it for the last couple of months before it was rolled out fully, it works but i'm not sure it's actually quicker unless there is a big queue at the counter

Might not be much quicker but does sound rather cool. I like gadgets and geeky things like that so will have to look into using this.

The £balance that doesn't go in the tank goes into banking limbo for several days before it's credited back to your card.

Just signed up to it and it does say it will only charge for what has been dispensed. Set my max at £100 as well.

It's a great idea, just apply a reasonably accurate pre-pay amount unless you're not bothered about returning funds to your card account.
In the "Fill Up And Go" FAQ's.

What happens if the fuel spend limit isn’t reached?

As with any fuel purchase, you’ll only be charged for the amount of fuel dispensed, regardless of the limit set in advance. The difference between the fuel spend limit and the actual amount spent will be credited back. PayPal credit will be released straight away. Returning funds to a bank, debit or credit card will vary and could take up to 5 days to be completed.

I thought Paypal fees and withdrawal fees are high? I'd rather have the commission converted to a discount for cash - which must be at least a couple of pence per litre.

Got an email about this the other week and must admit I did think it was tech for tech's sakes - and I say that as someone who likes tech smile

Can't help but wonder how long until the first case of "pump rage" as someone fks about trying to login to the app and link it with paypal and their signal drops and blah blah blah.

I used to do that for my mum and dad, years ago. smile

BTW, Humans is a drama, not a documentary, Tony. hehe
