Revival Photographers

Slightly specific question but looking for some advice from those who have been before. I think I will be going to the Revival this year as an accredited photographer, so I have a query regarding the period attire.

For the photographers who are working, is this required, or are we allowed slightly more leeway based on the period accurateness, and just expected to shirt and tie the event?

Or, more likely, have I misunderstood the dress code, and being period accurate isn't critical as long as its smart, shirt and jacket etc,

The snappers I see tend to dress up. But then you have the tabard on as well which spoils the effect a tad.

Opt for period dress 1948-1966, that way you don't muck up other people's photos by looking out of place Are you expecting a tabard or an armband?

The press and photographers are generally some of the better dressed at the event.

Hopefully a tabbard, Im PLI'd up, and potentially working for a reasonably big american site, so should be able to get a tabbard.

Thanks for all the advice guys, looks like I will have to invest in some slightly smarter attire which wouldnt look out of place in the 50s.

Sorry to pour cold water on your hopes of getting trackside, but Goodwood are only allowed to have 50 photographers in the restricted areas............unless there has been a change this year...........this is from the MSA.

So if you are shooting for Autosport/Motor Sport or "lifestyle" you will get priority, especially if you are recognised by the press department...........shooting for a website you may be disappointed.

There is still plenty to shoot at the event and there are two or three spots around the track where the Press armband will get you a clear shot. It is a challenge to your creativity to come away with action shots.

slightly OT perhaps...

... but is there some new safety rule where they can't have photogs out and about at the far reaches of the track ? - the only track action shots there seems to be is on the pit straight / chicane...

... also, anyone think the "lifestyle" "vintage" effect paddock shots are getting a little old hat now...

my information may be a little out of date as I gave up on trying to work at Goodwood a few years ago, at least trackside. I suspect in common with all venues Goodwood Circuit has to regularly review their H&S Risk Assessments, this may have led to more areas becoming Red Zones...........it is happening everywhere.

I would reckon that the reason for the popularity of the start/finish area shots has to do with the small reserved area at Woodcote that Press Armbands will get you into.........behind those with Photo Armbands.............the other reason is that it is a short walk from the Press Centre not the long trek out to the wilds and we all know how hard working the media are.................
