Hi Guys.

Thinking of buying a GTR, but heard about faulty bell housings, faulty gear boxes, etc etc.
Been put off a bit, thought these were bullet proof!

Any advice on buying & good garages would be most helpful please.

Restore my faith in theses awesome machines??

Regards.

They are awesome machines but stay away from the main dealers! Bell housing s are prone to rattle but many independants can supply and fit a much better uprated alternative, Litchfield charge about £700 for this. Most of the independants are able to sort gearbox issues without replacing the whole box but generally they are a reliable and incredibly fast car. Last month 28 GTRs from the GTROC went on a 2000 mile Eurotour, only issue for a GTR was an oil leak from a breather pipe during the trip. Get over to gtroc.org and have a chat with the guys on there.

Just bought my 3rd GTR this weekend last two cars I have had the owner take the car to Litchfields for an inspection. If they pass with correct service history Litchfield will put warranty on car to give you piece of mind for a year. Lichfield will warranty their own mods as well.

Hi Jez.

Hope you are all well.
you've rumbled me eh!!!!!

I know exactly what you mean about my car, i love the sound & driving experience of the car. Something that would be hard to replace.
It will not be until at least next year anyway, probably do what others have done, sell, then regret ever getting rid of the 8.

Just want to experience a GTR first hand, or maybe a 996 Turbo.

Regards.

Dave S.

Amazing cars & value for money , but they have no soul whatsoever

I have had 2 , 1 a forged big turbo black edition that one of the so called big specialists built (prior to me)f**Ked up ( It came with warranty I do my own work ) never again would I deal with one

Then a 620 hp one premium

Drove the pair a total of 15 times probably , just fancied one & if you do have one to get it out of your system

Things to look & listen for :

Bell housing Rattle , disc condition & brake judder, headlight misting , steering lock recall , paint issues around drivers mirror , check all panels for vin number stickers , under shield damage & front lip , rattles in drivers door when shutting

There should be plenty of documented items over the internet now to find out

If you buy one I have some nice Alcon CCx Brakes Carbon Ceramics available
