As part of our kitchen the wife wants an internal door taking out, blocking up then having a window put in. This window would be a smaller version of a 'feature window' the house already has. Basically, this sort of design but with a rectangle that the round bit 'sits' on top of.

to form something like this:

Does anyone know how you go about getting windows custom made? Is the cost prohibitive?

They aren't too bad - if you google there are a few companies giving online quotes - I was going to have a large one externally and IIRC it was sub £700.

Try "Custom windows" "Bow top windows" "Arch Windows"

Or you could get the builder to build a frame and order a bit of glass to go in to it.

We put an internal window in with an etched pattern in it and the glass was under a £100...

That's something I am thinking of now! Just tricky to create the round curve at the top I imagine.

Do you have the details of who you ordered the glass through?

Thanks

"Cost prohibitive" smile I guess there's always someone for whom that doesn't apply regardless.

I know a decent carpenter who makes windows in the Suffolk area if that works.
