This was a convertible S

Car looked wider than you think but shrinks around you
Design very colour and spec sensitive
Power fine
Exhaus on loud didn't wow and didn't reflect the angry sound people refer to. A bit synthetic?
Boot difficult shape so not too useful
Interior a little bland and needs to be specced up
Price set too high and expect major depreciation
A little tale happy on greasy road but was very controllable. Communication from the steering a little numb.
Just didn't grab the heart strings for a £63000 grand car. Not worth more than a cayman for me
I may be getting fussy in my old age

Ha ha. I'm trying the coupe tomorrow on my own. Also looking at vantage and at the 911 porsche experience at the weekend so will be a fair challenge. I don't really fancy the 911,or R8 to be honest.

Yup, I'd agree with that.

Will be interested in your comments. I've tried both Boxter and 911 in the latest form but the only one that grabbed my attention was a 911 GTS . That had a real touch of boy racer to appeal to my inner hooligan and the engineering of the PDF gearbox in particular is first rate. The non GTS and the Boxter simply seemed bland and too perfect if thats possible.. The V8Vantage was by comparison badly engineered ( the flappy paddle gearbox is carp) and somehow seemed an old mans car. Odd since the vantage racing success is high so the basics must be capable. Definitely didnt float my boat. Then I tried the F type 3.6 S which seemed both pretty and perform reasonably well.Lovely inside. Unlike you I quite liked the interior of the F type - certainly its more individual that the Porker interior which is standard German Din spec. Could come from an Opel or M<erc or .... . And the F type has stuck in my memory far more than the Porkers.

But if I were honest, the only one that grabbed me as much as my current and owned 7 years Elise was the Ferrari 430. In every case I drove to and from the test in the Lotus and in every case bar the Ferrari I ended up thinking on the way back home - why am I changing. I suppose the answer is the 7 years. Time for a change.
