My throttle cable snapped yesterday at the peddle end, I've managed to botch something together using electrical block connectors and some Bowden cable so that the car can be used. Just wondering does anyone know if there's a cable available with the correct fitting at the engine end?

Hello Neil, my S2 has eaten two cables rolleyes, It now has a bicycle cable inner, clamped at both ends with the electrical connectors, I gave up looking for the original. I carry a couple of spare cables and connectors in the glove box. Maybe someone on here knows where to get the correct cable.

They are no longer available. You might find some ideas from the following posts.

The Ford one was a bit short on the S1 anyway so an adaptation using good quality cycle cable was an improvement.

I think the main problem is that there is no pedal stop when pressed down and the throttle is fully open. I have fitted a length of studding through the baulkhead and adjusted so the pedal hits the end of the studding just as the throttle is wide open (or very slightly before) otherwise you can keep pressing and increase the tension on the inner cable until it snaps.

I agree, have also made one, little while ago but I think I used a bit of stainless steel and an M10 bolt wink

..... and this is my solution to the lack of availability of throttle cables

Thanks for the help and suggestions, in the end I fabricated a bit of spare 10mm aluminium rod I had hanging about to come up with a solution. Hope ths makes sense; at the engine end using a 3cm length of the rod I drilled out a hole using a 6mm bit for the "ball" of the throttle arm to fit, the original "clasp" then slid back over to hold it in place. At the other end I drilled up the centre of the rod with a 3mm bit so the cable could slide in, then drilled 2 holes for self tappers to hold the cable tight. I used a solderless nipple at the peddle end. Fingers crossed it appears to be working OK.
