Brown is the new white! They do look brighter in the flesh but I guess I'll have to get used to people asking why I have brown wheels.

They're the same colour as this
Nice. I would think they look best against certain body colours though. Cannot see them on a Guards red car.

Fitted the wheels today and here they are....

Love the colour!
Love that the arches (especially the rear) are now filled properly!

Rear wheel in arch from behind (before and after)

Those look great, nice choice!

With a bit of extra camber at the rear the standard wheels get lost, those look spot on.

Pretty much mission accomplished now on my ideal spec GTS...

Sharkwerks exhaust bypass pipe
H&R lowering springs
997.2 GT3 Front wheels
997.2 GT3 RS Rear wheels
Michelin Pilot Cup 2's
Genuine Porsche Aero kit front splitter (painted in matt black to match the side skirts and rear bumper)
Zunsport front grills (need re-fitting) to protect the rads and coolers etc.

Love this car and with the above mods its become my own. Anyone thinking about buying a 997 GTS I suggest you get out there and do it!

Nice GTS - this is a useful thread as I'm looking for a desert-spec white car and who knows what rims it'll be running. I had a white car with some light titanium rims, and it looked great, but the darker titanium looks really good under white bodywork!

I do have red track day rims for the other car, but that's only a few days a year; and I agree, black just looks lost under the arches. The cheapo black painted winters are going to get repainted one day.

Nice one Chris - you have the perfect GTS in my eyes! I'm sure if you parked next to a standard car the result would be even more dramtatic.

Cheers Rob!

This is indeed now my perfect GTS and offers me the rear seats a 997.2 GT3 couldn't. Will have to park it next to another white GTS as I agree the improvement then would indeed be dramatic!

Think the front Aero splitter has made a big impact too as its given the car a more aggressive face especially painted in black (GT3 style) as opposed to most Aero kits being painted body colour.

Hi Chris,
I know this thread hasn’t been active in a while but was just wondering how you are getting on with your GTS..
I’m very close to purchasing one and would love to get feedback from long term owners..

On a related note to the thread itself, I will definitely change the wheel colour as the black and silver rim just doesn’t do it for me.. the car is GT silver..

Here’s a big one and possibly controversial.... I am strongly considering changing the overall color of the car to navy.... I’ve seen examples of a Navy gts with the silver spyder wheels and imo it really is an incredible combo....

Is this something that would be seen as a big no-no and what companies could anybody recommend to respray it properly?

Thanks

Cheib

GTS is a great car....I’ve had mine three years and love it. Mine’s a manual which is a big part of its appeal. Mine is Platinum Silver so I think the black wheels go well with that though I think blue with silver is stunning in that photo.

With regards to the colour change I wouldn’t do it personally unless it was absolutely 100% my forever car...even then I’d probably wait, there’s at least one dark blue GTS in the country. It’s the old Porsche GB press car. If going the respray I’d want a proper glass out job which I believe if done properly by a good firm is firmly into five figures...and your car would probably be worth less than if it was original. I’d probably explore a wrap or even the new “Topaz Skin” product but looking at the work that goes into the latter I reckon that’s a princely sum....but the car can be taken back to OEM.

Hi Cheib,
Thanks for coming back to me and for your thoughts.
Yes, the price I’m sure would be prohibitive and it’s something I would only consider once I knew it was being kept forever.
I don’t know what it is - just can’t get used to the polished rim - I really love the all black wheels on the 991 Gts so the black isn’t the issue. If and when I purchase (hope the dealer isn’t reading this or my negotiation is shot!), I might start by spraying the wheels all black.

Separate issue from the aesthetics but have you had any issues with the CL wheels in terms of punctures etc?
Have you seen any 997 Gts without CL wheels? I saw a 991 Gts without them last week... looked great also and possibly more practical ??

+2. Or looks like the rims are filthy.

I’ve got CLs and would prefer to have 5-stud. They look cool but that’s about it.

I bought a proper torque wrench and breaker bar, so I can do wheel changes myself.

But I have had problems when I got caught out and had to have an emergency cord plug repair. Obviously if the car is recovered to an OPC you’re into the realms of “sorry Sir we won’t repair tyres, you’ll have to buy a new one”.

I actually now own the wheels that ChrisABP had on his car and I might at some stage look into painting them black. I think the colour he chose is very nice though, and works on a wide variety of car colours.

The CL’s are a bit of a “must have” judging by how long they cars without them stick around. For me the CL’s and Alcantara intoerior are part of what make a GTS a GTS so wouldn’t have one without them.

They’re definitely not as practical!
I am not beholden to OPC’s though as I live relatively close to two excellent Porsche specialists (RPM and JZM) and a local tyre independent tyre retailer is excellent and works with a lot of expensive cars and has all the right equipment for CL’s.

From your comment and the one above about buying a torque wrench etc it sounds like it’s not as big a deal as I thought..
Yes the CLs look superb and definitely denote the car as something a bit more special..
I see a lot of comment on Rennlist with guys in US changing them out for GT3 Rs wheels etc but sounds like an inordinate amount of hassle.. (edit... and actually the whole point of this thread I just realised!! Looks fantastic btw @Chrisabp) I’m just excited about my first 911 so will enjoy this part first..
Thanks again for the advice... and I’ll post a pic if I purchase this week..
I’m sure I’ll have plenty more questions!
Regards

Actually...one more question...

What’s the difference in a Gts without Sports Chrono?

Any major performance differences?

And if it’s a big difference, can it be retro fitted by a OPC?

From memory, I think in PDK cars, the SC gives you launch control - I think that’s about it - can’t 100 % remember though, sorry

I believe that’s right and OPC’s can retrofit...although not with clock on the dash. It is something that’s a sort after option though OP.

The black GTS at Chester Porsche has the sports button retrofitted, but as far as I’m aware it’s only a must have if you have PDK.

Advice please. I’m an owner of a 997 GTS in platinum silver. I wish to change the wheel colour after seeing one for sale with silver wheels
Does anyone know what paint colour these wheels are? This 997 is also in PS and I think it looks ace. Thanks

Hi Jim, that is my actual car in your picture which you must have seen on the Lusso Prestige dealer site where I bought my car last month. I will find out exactly what silver the alloys are. Here is another picture of my car..
