Hi chaps,

Just trying to figure out the radio wiring behind the dash - for the most part it seems fairly straightforward - somebody has used bullet connectors to splice in some ISO connectors.

Couple of odd things though - it seems there is a blue wire for antenna power. Is this an aux for power to an amp/aerial? Seems odd that it's wired in at all.

There is also a red wire coming from the loom that is not connected. Any suggestions? According to Steve Heath, purple/red and purple/brown are 12v and ignition (might be the other way round) so what is red for?

If this is coming out of the back of the radio and it has a little label on it saying "antenna power" then it is probably for powering the aerial. Although I have one of these blue wires but I didn't need to connect it because the aerial is obviously getting powered by one of the other connections. If it's live tape it over and ignore it.

If it is live, but not doing anything and everything works, tape it over and ignore it thumbup

If you have the time and inclination then you could remove the bullet connectors, solder the wires and cover with heat shrink for a proper job.

The radio normally has a ignition live and a permanent live to retain the memory.
The wiring is something like this

This is usually one of the connections via the ISO connectors.

If you get ISO connectors and terminals you don't need to join wires just crimp new terms.. If your wires are good and long enough that is..

Replacement radio fitted by audio specialists locally!

Originally had a powered aerial fitted. I think replacement aerial might well have had some sort of powered amplifier!

No idea!
