How much hardcore?
Discussion
Now then, I'm making a gravel parking area/patch so we can move 2 cars independently. The area I've dug out is 15m2 and I'm wanting 100mm of compacted hardcore then 25mm of top gravel:
How much hardcore in tonnes will I need to fill 15m2 to a compacted depth of 100mm? I'm getting different amounts from each person I've asked so far.
Cheers.

If you are getting bulk bags delivered and the lorry can get alongside where you want it, the driver might be willing to suspend it over the area while you cut the bottom of the bags with a Stanley knife. I had 5 tonnes of top dressing dropped this way recently and it saved me a lot of work. I'm sure there are H&S rules against it, but the driver suggested it

Sound. Will see how far i get with 3 tonnes. Can always get another tonne bag dropped off if needed.
Cheapest per tonne(ish) bag I've found is £35. Not sure a tipper could get down the driveway to get loose stuff delivered.
We charge £40/tonne so that's not a bad price assuming it includes the VAT and there is no delivery charge.Cheapest per tonne(ish) bag I've found is £35. Not sure a tipper could get down the driveway to get loose stuff delivered.
Just make sure its a good quality type 1 not some substitute material some places fob people off with.
You are going to have to barrow it in I suspect due to width of the drive.
Out of interest what did you do with all the soil you excavated? I'm looking to do something similar but dont have a big enough garden to hide it away. Also, is 100mm of hardcore the recommended amount, I'll be using those grids as I have a very slight slope, so it's going to need excavating to about 150mm, that's a lot of soil!
Alot of it was grass which was dug up and used to fill the (stupidly large) borders the previous owner had put right around the back garden. But the rest was dumped round the side of the house ready for a skip with all the other bushes and trees we've chopped down.
100-150mm seems to be the amount of hardcore needed when reading guides online etc. A good website is www.pavingexpert.com
