Need some advice from the PH crowd.

Torn between a new Chevy SS and the Ford Focus RS. Either one would be the daily driver, log about 15,000 miles a year. Snow is part of the equation from mid November to mid March.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

One is a hot hatch, one is a muscle car.
Over here the RS would be seen as an Essex boy chav mobile. Where you are, I'd go with the RS.

I'd imagine a Chevy SS would be pretty much unusable during Illinois winters - Focus less so. As already stated by Roo, these are hardly comparable vehicles.

Either come on summer tyres to the best of my knowledge. I'd reckon the Focus may be better during winter owing to FWD, I assume the Chevy is a rear driver. Providing you have decent all season or winter tyres as regards the comments on suitability, i've done two Wisconsin winters in my 2014 5.0 Mustang and it's fine on all season boots providing I am not going anywhere too far off the beaten track.

Decided on the poor mans M5 and went with the 6 speed manual. I'll be switching over to winter tires in a month or so.

The only giveaway that it is something special (aside from the throaty V8) are the Brembos!

No third pedal!

An SHO with a 5.0 litre V8 and six speed manual? Sign me up--after I've had fun with the SS!
