Hi,
Anyone out there going on this day - it's an open pit lane, but only 90dB. I'm sure my S2000 will be under that, but it probably excludes the TVR enthusiasts!
Looking forward to the day - hope it doesn't rain!
I was 93 at Castle Combe with extra silencers in place on my Chimaera, but I am convinced that the tester said "fine" before I had got to the required revs. Normally more like 97 db. Shame, I would love to have a go at Thruxton.Anyone out there going on this day - it's an open pit lane, but only 90dB. I kinda regret fitting R888s now..
In all honesty, I wouldn't worry about R888s. In anything but driving rain where there's a lot of static surface water, I've found them to work pretty well once you get some heat into them. Admittedly, getting heat into the tyres in a near 2-tonne family saloon is slightly easier than in lighter vehicles........Forecast as of about 5 minutes ago says its going to chuck it down all day long. I don't mind some rain as the Meg is bone stock on MIchelin PS2s and completely stock OEM brakes i.e. rubbish pads, having said that though I have been there on a race day when it chucked it down and the racers were running something like 30 seconds a lap slower than in the dry and taking all kinds of crazy lines to try and find some or any grip.
I really enjoyed that, ended up as only a half day for me I don't know if the rest of you went on track in the morning at all. Amazing how quickly it dried up I reckon the last 2.5 hours or so must have been completely dry.
Man I am still buzzing from how fantastic Thruxton is although I was driving like a complete pussy first run out, really love that track.

Well, to say that Thruxton has its own micro-climate is a bit of an understatement!!
Was there in the green Volvo and I must say I reckon that in the morning, I would have made better progress around the circuit in a rubber dinghy than I did my car! Afternoon was brilliant though, quite amazing how quickly the track dried and by 3pm it was pretty darn warm with the sun blazing - was really a great honour to be able to take our service guys and gals out for several laps!!
Have to agree that it was another great day out with Calum, Melindi and the gang and am looking forward to Goodwood in November!!

Maybe all the horsepower at Thruxton effects the climate
Fun afternoon after being a bit worried before lunch. Goldtrack do a great job indeed.
mrfunex nice chatting to you, Did you find out if our bearing diagnosis was right?
T4RRR I may have some video of you before you pulled in, let me know if you want me to post a link up, think it may be a lap or less but haven't reviewed my video yet.

The photos are up!
The suspected dodgy wheel bearing got a LOT worse on the way home, only about 3 miles from the track. Had a bit of an investigate in a layby (car wasn't safe to drive any further) and 3 out of 5 wheel nuts on the rear right were really loose! Eek! Tightened them up and all was fine again... Left me feeling a bit of a numpty!
Moral of the story - always check your nuts!
