May be a bit of a daft question but what is the red lever for in this picture of my battery cover? I thought it was just secured with bolts?

Thanks.

I haven't got one, must be a mod. Is it an isolator switch of some description?

It looks like one of these

Try removing it to kill the power.

Ok I tried again and you're right, it was a key that came all the way out but unfortunately the doors and lights still worked when it was fully removed. I guess it's not connected up, to check this I would have to remove the front wheel? Thought my winter battery problems were nearly solved for a minute.

Have you got a charger? I always plug it in when I parked up. The battery will be drained after two weeks of idling (in my case anyway). IF Only the Winters would only last that long!!!

Yeah I have a charger, it's a bit awkward because the car is on the drive so an battery isolator might have been easier.

Oh I see. Well make sure your new isolator can be accessed from an outside of the car at a secrete place. Otherwise, it will be a pain to get access to the car or you have to leave your boot or doors permenantly opened.

Or just reading your posts again, was it an intention that the isolator you have right now just cut off the immobilisor (which is the reason for draining the battery) and the engine. The door/ lights can still work, so you can still get in and out? Just a thought. Have you try to start the engine with the key out?

I just tried the lights and doors as a quick test as I assumed an isolator was all or nothing. When reaching in to put try the lights I did notice the immobiliser red light still flashing though. I should try the engine for completeness.
