You know the famous one just rotting on a driveway near the Shell Garage?

Gone. Was seen being loaded onto a recovery truck.

Been there since I can remember!

Very few things get me to want to reply on PH - this was one though! I've been driving past that car for months/years now and always had this urge to give it a good jet wash! It never failed to catch my attention.

Sad to see it's gone. I imagine someone knocked on the chaps door after also driving past it for years and wanted to restore it. Or the owners sent it off for restore. Would be good to see it back there shiny and white!

I always wondered what would happen to that car. Seems strange to let it sit there and just waste away. The guy that owned worked in the petrol station next door, and I think eventually managed the Shell Garage at John Nike.

Many years ago down Hatch Ride there was a couple of houses that had Escort & Sierra Cosworth's and one that had a Escort RS2000.

Used to love walking past those on the way to school.

B*gger, I knew I should have knocked on that door!

Pretty sure it was a Series 2.

Still my mate has a red one stashed away in a lock-up - need to do some persuasion......

I'm kind of relieved to see it gone as I hope that means it's going to get the TLC it deserves.

Seeing cars just sat and decaying slowly always makes me feel sad.

Talking of Lightfoots, does anyone know if the place been sold yet?

I tried to buy it about 5 years ago, as did many! I was told it was to be restored.

Just continued to sat there and rot however.

I think its still up for sale. I know the two mechanics in the workshop and they didn't mention anything when I popped in the other day.

I wonder if its difficult to sell as it will need to be kept as a petrol station. The cost to clear the site and remove the fuel tanks must mean that turning it into housing would be too expensive??

Surprised by the number of fellow Crowthorne Ph'ers that I've never met. Shall have to keep my eyes open!

I pass through twice daily - even with a smiley on the boot, I'm yet to be spotted in either of my cars! Not in TV&S at least...

I've lived in Crowthorne for 7 years now. Mind you, no stickers on any of the toys.
