Poor ole Wedge getting hammered again...Unfortunately sometimes they get moved on with an underlying issue because they can be a bloody headfuken sometimes but perseverance and being methodical can return great results and restore your faith in humanity again...smile

I have seen Griffs...Chims..Cerebra's...Tuscans with rotten chassis's after being outside for a few years...My old 280i was left in a garage for 11 years ..Uncovered and un-loved..Chassis is like new...

A friend found a SEAC that was in a field for 15 years...It had its own eco system in each footwell and the carpet was a mush of algae and slime....But the chassis was mint...Okay it is stainless steel...smile

Seriously though once the Wedge has all its little issues sorted then you will have a reliable useable car..I bought mine at silly money..£2,250...Ive spent £2500 on it which was some needed work and some bling bling...3 years later she is still reliable...Yes i have stood there staring at the engine bay for hours scratching my head but through perseverance i have over come these issues and now like all of these things its about maintaining it to the best of your ability...Don't scrimp on parts...Do it right...Do it once...Keep to a regular maintenance program and all should be gravy....Cars are built to be driven, Even if it is just at weekends for some..Whatever your tickle you will be opening your wallet more times than a randy sugar daddy ....TVR's don't you just luv em...biggrin

Why do people think that buying a griff for the same price as a real good wedge is the better option?
Get real guys, a griff can be just as rough, just as troublesome and had just as many owners.

If you compare like for like and want an immaculate trouble free griff you will not get one for the same price as an equivalent wedge.

I had a 500 griff a few years back and it was immaculate with 16k on the clock, that car now would be up with +20k brigade and not down at the 12k mark. Rant over. smile

This is how I think it's going. Look a Stag prices now. 5- 30 grand for a British V8 convertible. I bought a 72 stag for 5 grand and it was 23 years old. Bought a 23 year old TVR 350SE for the same money. I know which one I'd rather own now, don't fancy Stagfest. Must say I'm a ex Stag TR7 dolomite Capri manta MK2 Escort.long live the Wedge this ones a keeper 👍

Couldn't agree more. Sorry been away this week in our newly purchased static caravan near Tenby, with no 3G and no wifi! Drove the kids mad! I'm an ex Capri Mk2 1600GT, Triumph 2.5S estate, TR6 (totally rebuilt with 180bhp engine), Dolomite, 323i convertible BMW man and the Wedge just utterly tops the lot in value for money, entertainment, fun factor, grin factor, lack of rust on the body factor. Got the two at the moment - 390SE that won't rev beyond 3000rpm and 350i that has an odd and irritating misfire every 20 miles that I can't track down. I will get both 100% come what bloody may. Despite this I just love the "edge" that they have, love the shape and love the fact that some really hate the shape. I was thinking of getting a Griff instead of the 390SE but compared to a Wedge the styling is a bit too "nice" and curvy.

Value for money, grin factor and also uniqueness, you just cant beat a Wedge.

Hi Keith...390SE...Has the AFM been disturbed...I have a feeling it might have...350i...Does this happen when its mainly hot...Do you have a new ignition amp and was it a three pin instead of a two?...Sorry if i have started something here or maybe you could start a new post...After all thats what this forum is for...smile

Hi Mark, yes AFM has been disturbed plus just about everything else. Personally I think it's an AFM/ECU combo issue but before I head along those slightly expensive lines I'm letting my local mate/garage just do the basic health checks and point to point wiring checks.Compression is spot on, valves and rockers all okay. Cylinder leak tests all good. HT leads all good, timing all good, spark all good, and fuel and oil pressure all good. It's either duff wiring or AFM/ECU.

It's the 350i that's bugging me at present. Checked everything out yet after 20 miles or so of driving it has a cough as if it's going to cut out, but doesn't, and then continues on as if there's no issue. Replaced the dissy, ignition amp, HT leads, coil. Next job is to check the temperature sensor, TPS condition and track on the AFM. The TPS "pink" wire has been bypassed with a new cable run all the way back to the ECU so I suspect there might be an issue with the loom. I've got two spare so will work through it. Hey ho.

Hi Keith..As you know i had a mysterious mis-fire that would happen when hot..Not all the time but became more frequent and that was my CTS..Temperature sender although mine was a faulty unit and a buggered wire..(I won't put the pic again smile )...I was lucky cos I'm crap at using a multimeter...STILL......However with a little help from my friends i fumbled by...Being methodical pays off...Hope you find it mate...Cheers...Ziga

Hi, apologies for my ignorance and thread drift, having learned to drive in the 1970's (just)I am not used to these modern complicated cars things where so much simpler then wink.

I assume the a temperature sender causing an intermittent mis fire has something to do with sending a signal to the ecu.
