Hi all,

Looking for a new car, 7 seater required, don't like MPVs so looking at SUVs / 4x4s. Not going to be used off road, maybe a greenlane or two but infrequently.

Will have around 5k to spend and for that I can get roughly a 54 plate in the XC90 with around 110k miles (2.5D version), or a 56 plate Santa Fe again diesel version with around the same mileage.

Would love to hear peoples opinions of these two cars and any risks around this mileage level.

Edit - also can I please add the Merc M class to this list - can get a 100k miler for around the same money, on a 05 plate.

2nd edit - nissan pathfinder and mitsubushi shogun (7 seaters) also an option. Looks like all these cars are around the high 20's / low 30's on mpg combined cycle. Will real world mpg be significantly lower?

Thanks

I'd avoid the xc90 like the plague, some of the bills you see on early models is horrendous.

the hyundai is a good shout, still a bit agricultural if you're not going to go off road. I'd also consider a Kia sorento myself nice on the road.
