Quite a few folk live here already. So, we don't have to 'go to London'. Having said that, £25 is more than a bit steep and Ally Pally itself is not the easiest place to get to. I live up the road during the week. So, it's not a problem for me personally

I've been to quite a few car shows there over the years. I can't remember paying anywhere near that price for entry. I think I'll wait for reports of this year's show and then decide if it's worth attending in 2016.

Not much price incentive to buy a ticket in advance, and at £27 not much incentive to buy one on the door either!

They really need to try and keep the cost of entry as low as possible until if becomes established, otherwise it won't get established.

Posted this yesterday in the CC&YH forum:

Got an email offering a discount on tickets for the Classic and Sports Car Show at Ali Pally.
Now, ticket prices are £23 + £2 fee. So if they're offering 20% off the total, that would be £20. If the offer is 20% off the ticket price of £23, that's £18.40 + £2 fee equals £20.40.

But website states offer price of £22 (£20 ticket price + £2 fee.)

Have I got this wrong somewhere?

This morning I received a similar email offering a 20% discount as a "Silverstone Classic attendee".

Groupon are doing half price tickets to this. Perhaps they haven't sold as many as they thought full priced and are relying on groupon to shift them now.

Only my opinion.....but I've come along to a virtually empty Alexander Palace, really poor show.......to be fair I only paid £12 via Groupon, and I was passing......just about to leave, taken less than an hour to walk around twice. The bad Karaoke/pub signing retro act has just started on the interview stage !

So dealers selling expensive cars, purveyors of clothes/paintings.....if you're local, and you get a deal....but if you travel & pay £27 you may be dissapointed. Interesting to see what other people think.

This is not in the same league as the NEC or Retromobile, both which feature more club stands.....every time I stop to look at a car here, someone tries to sell it to me. £89k for an admittedly nice Citroen DS Saloon anyone ?

I've just spent three hours at the show. I have to admit that on balance, I side with the poster immediately above. Though, I did enjoy what there was and I wouldn't go so far as to describe the show as poor. There's just not enough to see for the money.

There were quite a few interesting cars. For example, the oldest known Aston. But, you really could get round in 90 minutes. I was with three friends and we spent one hour out of the three just chatting over a cup of coffee.

The £80k Citroen was ridiculous. Indeed, some of the 'sticker' prices were optimistic.

I wonder if the show will make it to 2016? If it does, I think that I would attend. Though, not if I had to pay full whack for a ticket at £25 I wouldn't.

Attended show today, great cars, managed to get half price tickets on Groupon but would never had paid £25 each. £100 for family of 4 ( kids over 15 ) . Going to Nec classic on 13 nov thats about 10 times bigger and cheaper. Sat and Sun cost £18 with club discount, and you get free coffee and biccy's on club stand,,

Need to reduce prices to an acceptable level ie £10 ,,,

Is it me or was the previous classic carshows at Ally pally much bigger and cheaper,,

Went yesterday and covered it about an hour. Should really have been £12 a ticket. Some nice cars but some of the prices were insane.
Not really sure what market it's aimed at these days with all the 'lifestyle' stands but it didn't really work for us.

Still it was a lovely drive in the TVR.

Yes, 27 quid is quite a bit to pay for this show now. Used to go when it cost half of that and filmed most of the cars there. Have quite an archive of these shows on HD video from 2003-2007. You can see some very rare and unusual motors there. Some of the exhibits have inspired me to own certain models such as the TVR Griffith and 450SE.

For what it was today, the entry price was blatantly just taking the piss. £10, or maybe £15, might have been OK for what was a generally unremarkable event.

First Prize for being the biggest tt of of the show goes to the bloke turning people away from the door of the Coys showroom.

Went to the show and was incredibly disappointed - more "lifestyle stands" selling clothes and non-car related products than genuine car stands. I felt aggrieved at having paid £27 for the pleasure. If, I wanted to go shopping, I could have popped into nearby Brent Cross for free! On leaving, having spent less than an hour at the show, I went over to the organisers area to express my disappointment. To be fair, their representative did thank me for my feedback, albeit it being of a negative basis, but she countered by saying that the general concensus was that the show gave "good value for money". This was certainly not the view expressed by a number of fellow visitors, nor with the stand holders with whom I spoke! Not planning on returning next year.
