Hullo,

Just picked myself up a 205 GTI, and I'm trying to find an owners club to get a feel for them and what kind of preventative maintenance is worth doing - only one I can find though is closed to new sign ups. Does anyone else have one that they would suggest?

Thanks!

205 drivers is one i use, but not been on for a while. Is that the one? With vehicles dwindling I find it weird they are not letting new enthusiasts in?

Yeah, that's the one; it's a strange one for me too. It's all over their homepage that they are now allowing signups, but no such luck in the forum itslef. I've emailed their admin and got no response.

Shame really, it looks something of an active forum, and I'm itching for some advice on my new toy. haha.

I've flagged this thread, and the question of new registrations, up on the 205gtidrivers forum in the hope someone can look into it for you smile

There is definitely a wealth of info in a lot of the sections even without signing in - when I first got my 205 GTI back in '08 I spent a few months lurking in the background / reading through old threads & posts before I was able to join.

Thanks Alex! Oh, I have been doing a bit of reading and lurking, would just be nice to get access to some of the locked sections.

It transpires that I'm only about 15 miles away from PugRacing, so I might drop down there and see what the craic is.

Yeah Miles @ PugRacing is an excellent guy for anything 205 related. He's not local to me but always well worth a drive down to ensure mine is running well.

The best thing he did for me 2 years ago was overhauling the engine loom and connectors, as well as the usual cursed brown multi-plug in the engine bay, to cure the usual electrical gremlins from poor connections after 20 odd years. Starts 1st time every time now smile

He's done work on mine before - I've seen rear suspension refresh receipts from a few thousand miles ago so I'm hoping he recognises it.

Electrics wise, I'm fortunate enough that mine actually starts on the button every time with no throttle or anything. smile I have noticed a wheel-bearingy sorta noise though coming from the front, but it doesn't seem to change when I throw it round a bend, so I'm a little confused at what that may be.

Hoping he could pass on a recommendation for a local place to repair the little hole I have in my front wing also. frown
