High mileage cooper on offer

I've seen several coopers and cooper s advertised with 80---100.000 miles.
Prices don't seem much less than lower mileage cars .
Has anyone got any advice on what to check for on high milers?

Spec makes a big difference.

It would help if you said what year/R53/R56 etc.

It's an 06 reg cooper if that helps.
I'm wary because of the mileage.

06 Cooper will have the 5-speed Getrag box, much better than the Rover one. Apart from PAS pumps and chain tensioners, I can't think of much to go wrong on Coopers'.

Someone in America put 600k on a Cooper, so they can take the mileage

Mileage is no issue, so long as they have been maintained. There's some on AT with over 150k and they all look fine, some of the mileages in the USA are insane (200k+ is not rare).

They do go on and on IF looked after, but like all cars with miles on them, things will wear out (suspension, clutch) but the best you can afford
