Euro breakdown cover
Discussion
Sorry all I know this must have been asked 1000 times but I'm off on a Euro tour and have a shed load of stuff to sort out - including breakdown cover. I'd like any recommendations & even better, anyone with the unfortunate experience of actually having to use one and opinions of how it was dealt with.
I know I might sound a pain in the arris asking questions all the time but you guys on here are the greatest source of knowledge!

Took out RAC euro cover on our first long roadtrip, uttered the immortal words "We haven't had to use it", car broke down that day.
RAC were fantastic. Arranged a garage to fix it, a hire car to use til if was fixed and a taxi to get us from the garage to the hire place. Their staff were very helpful and reassuring, and crucially provided translation services over the phone.
Have now added the Euro cover to our annual policy, as it works out more economical that way.

I've just taken out breakdown cover via 'Vehicle rescue Direct' which is an AxA company:-

It worked out at £32 for 10 days cover for the Aston Martin.
Good luck and enjoy the trip.

(in 2001) I'd extended my Aviva/RAC(??) UK breakdown cover to euro for a trip to northern France. Trevor broke down whilst tanking along on the autoroute and we pulled off and stopped in a supermarket carpark. Breakdown provided translation, recovery, temporary storage and hire car for the rest of our trip, recovery back to port, ferry tickets and recovery back to home and eventual recovery back to my local dealer. That was the best ~£20 upgrade ever.
The chap who turned up intially looked very bemused at the battery being in the footwell. We mutually agreed for him not to try and fix the car since our trip was relatively short.
Final diagnosis was the dreaded 100A fuse. Doh!

Thanks guys. Going from the RAC experiences and also that I am a RAC UK black card member I decided to go with them. Got discount for being a black card member and also money off for being in the TVRCC! Still £114 but piece of mind and all that, also the level of cover is really good.
One less thing to worry about, just praying I don't need it!!
Thanks again

ADAC will give you European wide coverage for whatever you drive (or are driven in!!) for €86 for the year!!
They were the only one's who would take on my 17 year old Griff (until I changed the insurance.....) but I'll stick with ADAC as they cover my bike and other cars.
Although the correspondence starts in German they all (mostly) speak perfect English and will reply in English as well.
Do a search on PH for loads of posts about them.
