Toying with the idea of getting into a V12 again, budget would be ~£80K, would see usage as a third car only for maybe 2K miles per year and the odd track day.

Can't be a 550/575 as I've had the former already. What would people recommend? Initial thoughts are V12 Vantage or DBS as truth be told I'm a bit nervous about 10 year old 599 running costs and F1 box.

Presumably the (potentially) higher running costs of the 599 will be somewhat offset by the depreciation on the Astons?

edit: Then again perhaps the V12V in particular won't do too badly.

V12V is holding about 80/135 = ~60% after 5 years, 599s are at about 40% after 9 years, so not a million miles apart, but I take your point

Definitely V12V or manual DBS. You might want to do more than 2k pa in either of them though......

DBS is a great choice but not sure how well it will do on the track day requirement.

The other choice is a 612, the HGTS and OTO cars are very sharp and imho handle very well.

I apologise in advance for this suggestion. However, what about ia Bentley GT Speed (technically a W12). Ashton's are all very well but a 550/7575 and if possible at the budget a 599 would be, like for like better dynamically and more special in my view and you've done the 550 (like me).

Image wise a Bentley may be dodgy in some eyes but hey so can a Ferrari. The GT especially would give an entirely new V12/W12 experience which could be fun and the quality cannot be doubted.

Just my two cents for a different driving me experience. Personally as a 550 veteran I am going for something very different. Probably a 991 911 turbo. I will not justify my this thinking in this post.

Happy hunting Mario!

You're a little underbudget for a good DBS for £80k. If you can up to £90K then there will be a lot more available too you.

However that is what I would choose if I were you. It's not anywhere near as raw as the 550/575 but it is a wonderful car.

Ha Ha 60K .... more like 80k for a decent one !!

Anyway back to the point, I have been thinking about something similar when I decide to sell the 550 and the DBS (volante in my case) seems to be the logical choice however having tracked one there dreadful !!Had a GTC hated it, not special enough, my Discovery 4 handles better !!

Cant really see any V12 being good on a track, just way too heavy.

We went to milbrook with a 599, Vanquish( new one), F12 and an Elise, the only one not to boil brakes was the Elise !!

Done a fair bit of track work recently and if I was going to do it properly it would only be with a caterham or an Elise.

Just my 2p's worth

Once you've tracked cars like this there really is no point doing so in heavy clobber.
