Hi fellow PHs,
This may not be the best forum for motorhomes which, to be honest I have never liked as they get in my way(!!), but not wanting to annoy anyone, I thought I would test the water here.
I seen this bad boy down at the beach in Aberdeen today and it got me thinking about getting something like this for going to car events - this was a "53" plate "Optare", and having trawled the net I have been pretty unsuccessful in finding nothing more than this being a converted bus.....anyone know anything about these (apart from putting a bomb under them...LOL) as any help would be appreciated on the model and piccies of what they look like inside, engine, MPG, berths, etc.

(Sorry in advance if I have offended the regulars)

I have no idea about the vehicle in question but just out of interest, why do you need something so large for attending such events?

That's an Optare Alero.

They were designed as a welfare vehicle (transport for care homes, special schools etc) rather than a full-on service bus. They use some Iveco Daily mechanicals and are front wheel drive. However, they do have a pretty poor reputation for reliability and weren't really a commercial success. I've seen a few converted to party buses and the like but I suspect most are either scrapped or lying about unused.

Optare still exist and are now part of Ashok Leyland but I've now idea about the current level of support.

Right, now time to take my anorak off,
