Just removed my glove box, looking for my alarm and whilst doing this my glove box latch broke again. Can anyone advise me of a different type or better latch to fit please?

Thanks

I brought the B&Q latch but it appears the catch design has changed slightly, so couldn't fit it.

In the end I brought the RS latch and fitted it with the Steve Heath modification of using a cable tie. Seems fine and I hardly use the glove box.

Surely someone has come up with something better than those crappy TVR latches or the B&Q jobbies

These look possible

Those Grabber Catch Latches look like they may have possibilities. This is not top on my priority list but when I have time I may pursue further, unless someone else does it before me.......?

Those ARE the 'crappy TVR latches smile

After I broke my 3rd TVR latch I used a simple brass cupboard latch, works brilliantly, 90p and been fine for 7 or more years.

Clearly then the catch that was fitted to my Griff and very quickly broke was not an original, because it wasn't a 'latch'.

I use neodymium magnet, cheap, very neat and don't cost very much. Have a look on fleabay. Pete

Do you have any pics of your latch setup?

I need one too !! It's been wedged up with tissue paper since July 10, drives me crackers !

Ideally it needs to be a "touch " release, as if a clamp type, there is nowt to pull down on !!

I did have but they seem to have disappeared. Not rocket science to install, the pointy bit goes on the glove box tray and the latch part is fixed where the catch body used to be, Both fixed with a couple of screws, easy. smile

My glove box, when shut, has a bit of a gap showing which you can just put your finger into to pull it down.

20 neodymium magnets for 99p

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20pcs-N52-Super-Strong-M...

You araldite one to the glovebox and another to the underside of the dashboard. You fill inbetween with as many of the other magnets as you wish to vary the gap and vary the strength of the catch. Very neat and very simple.

Nevertheless, when I have time I will investigate putting back the original latch.
