Fingers crossed that they do it, and then it's on a par with the other series. However sadly we won't be seeing Lord Flasheart.

I'm in 2 minds on this.

On the one hand, it could be great. On the other, it could just be a bit limp, not hot the mark, and we're left feeling a bit deflated. To follow that final episode of Blackadder IV is a huge ask.

And we have now all been exposed to Tony Robinson on Time Team, a programme that makes me want to reduce my television to its component atoms.

I'm trying to think of something that has been resurrected that has been any good. I loved Blackadder (From the second series onwards), so if they do make it I hope they don't mess it up.

Shame Lord Flashheart won't make it.

I am looking forward to it but hopefully better than Blackadder Back & Forth.

Bad idea. Leave it alone.

I'm inclined to agree.

As much as I love Blackadder, I do wonder whether the weight of expectation would be just too much for a new series.

Sounds like a wind-up to me. Robinson is 69 and he'd want to play Baldrick again? I can't see Atkinson touching it either.

If it's something like the proposed idea for the Blackadder Five, then it may be good. I hope it's not set in present time.

In fact, a 70s spy series, like Tinker, Tailor would be a good setting.

I remember with cringing pain the 'new' Red Dwarf episodes a few years ago, it should've been left well alone and they should leave Blackadder alone too.

Please don't, just leave it alone.

I'm hoping that the cast are fed up getting asked about Blackadder 5 so they are just messing about,

"Yeah, Yeah, It'll be set in space in 2125. Baldrick will be the alien king of england. I've spoke to all the cast just this week and its definitely a goer"

I quite enjoyed them!

I have all Blackadder episodes on my PC gathering digital dust...

Is one of them getting a divorce or something as thats normally what causes these sort of returns?

Wasn't there a one off later that tried to tie in all the series together that was a bit lame.

Sure I've seen something like that.

They did a millennium one that was crap.

I think they should set it in the 80s and make it about a group of actors who are making a historical sitcom set over four different time periods idea

That's the one I was thinking of. I can remember being saddened that it sullied the series.

Spot on. It's the "weight of expectation" that usually makes these programmes appear to be disappointing in quality. If they could "stand alone" they might be considered in a more favourable light.

IMHO probably best not to remake the show. Can you think of anything Atkinson's done in the last few years which was remotely funny?

they would probably recruit new modern comedy faces for the roles...

probably something like Russel Brand for Lord Blackadder and perhaps...james corden fro baldrick...the latter would be ok, the former would be a turn off

I'm inclined to suggest they should leave it alone. I really do wish they'd done more episodes, but I think the brilliance of Blackadder was largely down to the actors and writers just being in "the zone" within a specific set of circumstances and situation.

The curse of having a lengthy career in comedy.

The good thing with Blackadder is it's premise, it could be set anywhere. That might help.
