I need help, I am old enough to remember the Pro Am series, I did the other one for Kawasaki z500's that didn't really take off but fondly remember the LC races.

I would love to watch it on TV, I have cancelled my BT sport sub, I will renew it for a month just to watch the LC race if they are showing it.

Does anyone know if it will be shown on TV, if it will be how do I make sure I can see it. Is there a streaming service or similar from Silverstone

Alas going to Silverstone this year isn't an option

My mate Curt has been invited to race in this event. He's chomping at the bit to get going. I suspect he will give a good account of himself too!

I got lucky, was invited to a Kawasaki press day at Donnington when I was about 18 or 19 they had all their road bikes from 250cc upwards available for us to thrash round the circuit all day, also a separate motox track with I think Dave Thorpe who was the great uk hope at the time.

During lunch Kork Ballington and AN other were on the GP bikes going round the circuit.

They had Z1R and various Z1000s including a shaft drive one, the Z650 chopper style bike was hilarious round the circuit as it would weave and wobble even on the straights. There was a dip under a Dunlop bridge that would make the front go light if you changed up at the right moment

They also had a couple of the z500 series bikes there, they were pretty standard apart from a big number board over the speedo and rev counter, centre stand removed and suspension firmed up.

Being so young and lacking imagination and not having had a proper hospital visit in my life yet, I was hooning around on one of the series bikes and got some pretty good lap times. The marketing director who was a friend of the person who got me invited asked to follow me round, after three or four laps we came into the pits and he asked me if I fancied racing one.

I agreed but didn't own any leathers, my parents didn't know I had a motorbike and had made it clear I wasn't allowed one. I had to hide my rd400 round the corner from their house with the helmet locked to it. So my problem was firstly how to source some leathers, secondly how to get out of various family things at weekends so I could go racing.

So I did a few races but couldn't do the whole series due to other commitments; I was in the top five a couple of times mainly due to other people tripping over each other. The only person I really remember was Damon Hill in the wet, absolutely un catchable.

The Dunlop Bridge at Donington is long gone, but the dip is still there and front wheels still happily go north there.

Does anyone know if there is any coverage of the race available anywhere? Also what are they doing with all the bikes they restored for the race?

One of the bikes is in my local dealers.
I'll get a pic next time I go.
