Couldn't find a thread..

Not a good for motorsports yesterday as we lost Guy Ligier yesterday as well. frown

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/motorsport/formul...

I had a lot of respect for the Ligier team because although they weren't always at the front, they weren't afraid to do what is sorely missing from F1 these days thanks to the rules, experiment.

From my own collection the 1986 car with Laffite on board.

Same driver in the 1985 car.

I haven't got time to find and upload them now but hopefully someone will be kind enough to post some pictures of his other famous cars.

The JS5 Teapot. Once seen, never forgotten.

The lovely looking and sounding JS17 V12 Matra from 1981.

The 1983 beautiful, pencil thin JS23.

The 1988 utter disaster zone that was the still very pretty 'engine in the middle' JS31.

All of them wrapped up in the gorgeous Gitanes paint scheme. Which, thinking about it, probably gave him the funding he needed to experiment.

No mention of the 1980 JS11? Great car, two great drivers and undoubtedly the best one they produced. But as Tony Southgate said, best not look to closely into the sidepods eh? wink

I was thought of Ligier as the French Tyrrell, same sort of attitude and outlook on game. Another great loss to our sport. cry

Really sad news. I didn't realise where the 'JS' comes from in the Ligier chassis name! A true gent. RIP.

Shame not more comments, but I guess overshadowed by the news about Justin Wilson. I do remember fondly their underdog victory with Panis at the wheel.
