I'm heading for Rhyl for the air show on Saturday. I've never been there before and as I'm a bit unsteady on my legs and can't walk far, can anyone suggest where the best place to view the display is please?

And I can't help either - I went to Rhyl Air Show a few years ago while I was at Bodelwyddan Castle, went down to the prom and waited, but it was running around 2 hours late so I had to get the last bus back up to Bodelwyddan just as it was starting. I can tell you that the railway station car park was reasonable for the stunt planes that were doing their display, and that you can't see any of it from back up at the castle.

My guess would be anywhere along the prom should give a decent view. When I was there they were selling tickets to a raised viewing platform, but it was only about the height of a single-storey building so I'm not sure how much better it would have been. The prom was long enough that the crowds weren't too bad, and it was a very nice day so not as if they were smaller than usual. Might be busy for the Vulcan.

This was taken from the railway station, but if there's anything lower going on (maybe there won't be now) you'd have to be a couple of roads north to see much.

Rhyl promenade is currently having some sea defence work going on at the west end of the prom so there are few vantage points to be had there, best bet is somewhere from the old sky tower right to the far east end beyond the Sun Centre.

The widest vantage point would be by the Lifeboat House, as all flying takes place in an area immediately in front and out to sea a few hundred yards, with regards to parking etc this might help;

There's always a good static display to be had as well in the events arena and it's always nice to see my much loved home town busy on days like this.

Thinking about going tomorrow as it's probably my last chance to see XH558 - is parking going to be a nightmare? I can't get there before 1pm or so.

It was very busy on the road when I went down a few years ago by road. Can you park in Prestatyn or Abergele and get the train?

Anyone know what frequency they are likely to use?
Hope the weather clears in time for the Vulcan.

I assume the Red Arrows were later than intended on Sunday? I saw them fly quite low over here (South Cheshire) heading east-ish at around 7pm.

The Red Arrows use Hawarden as a base for Rhyl and Blackpool shows.

They left on Sunday night around 7ish I believe.

I missed them despite living under the westerly flight path into Hawarden.
