So...

Booked in 3 weeks ago to have a new screen in the S1, they said there were 5 in the country, and I could only have one with a blue top strip. not what i wanted but i need one.

Waited an extra week for their "interesting car" specialist as i wanted someone who knew at least vaguely what they were doing.

Turns up, and the screen they had given him looked like something from a lotus esprit!

Great.

They appear to be giving you wrong information. Tonight they are showing just one green screen with a green top band at their main distribution warehouse in Leicestershire and nothing else anywhere in the country within their network.

Another independent wholesaler has stocks of clear, green, green with a blue band and green with a grey band. Yet another wholesaler has one clear and two green with a green top band.
The fitting company that I work for has two clear and two green screens in stock.

I didnt have a choice, its an insurance thing...

interesting, thats probably the one that was in the van today (he came from leics). Its possible it has been mis-stickered.

It really did look like the one on my old esprit!!! he said he thought it was wrong when he picked it up - Annoyingly i had forgotten my phone when i left for work this morning (Literally the first time ever) - no missed calls though.

Actually, more often than not, you do have a choice despite what you are told. Several of the insurance helplines are answered by Autoglass and, of course, they will tell you that you have to use them.

I'll see how it goes...

They have called me twice today to update me on progress (they have "found another" and are having it shipped to them)

This is my first windscreen claim actually, i dread to think how it would have gone with any of my rarer cars!!!

I'd like a new windscreen. Not as an insurance job.

I'd like to go to someone who knows what they are doing and has experience.

Anyone got any recommendations ?

Hi Niiige,
Jez had his S3 windscreen done at Leicester Autoglass earlier this year,
they made a really good job, trim was fine inside and glass flush with the surround.
Definitely recommend.

Thats a good sign, the guy who came out to me (with the wrong screen) was from there, he wa supposed to be their specialist who does a lot of work at Grey Paul and similar.

I'd recommend the company 530TDPhil works for. I had mine done on the S several years ago. Still going strong I believe.

Wouldn't mind a quote myself, I have the milky corner syndrome on my current 's' windscreen, spoke to someone before think it was £279 supply & fit if I remember correctly
