Hey toxic, judging all cyclists by the actions of the Critical Mass mob is like judging all motorcyclists by the actions of this lot...

We're not all bad, honest. Some of us even love cars wink

To be fair it sounds as though the OP was pretty close to that happening. It can take only one tiny thing for a gang mentality to set in

Wow.

I couldn't agree more with the OP here.

Each and every tt in that video deserves a hiding.

I was unsure of the OP's statement of the events until I watched this ^

OP you did well not to lamp someone!

As pointed out already they're not really cyclists, just left wing students with nothing to do on Fridays, trying to be rad and get a girlfriend.

I've also worked in London for 20 years and never heard of this bunch of terwats, I'm not sure how I'd take take to these people bouncing off the paintwork of my truck. I've already had the occasional snotty 'eco comment' about fuel consumption, this is easily handled with a little chat about a) the number of kids they have and b) what their likely carbon footprint will be compared to my mpg.

I bet they found it empowering ganging up on those police officers. The detestable cowards need to be thrown under a steamroller.
Bet they'd still run crying to the police if someone did something bad to them

I have been living in London for over 15 years and never heard if it.

Sounds like a something to avoid. I do wonder how and why people are allowed to effectively close the roads to a capital city like this.

There is a quite obvious solution.

Organise an even slower moving "protest", start a few minutes before them and take the same route.
Yep, get a few hundred motorists to drive really slowly in all the cycle lanes. I'm sure the police would nick you in short order though.

For practical reasons, mass disobedience of the law is generally ignored by police. These cyclists, the usual cycling red-light jumpers and pavement riders, MLMs, boy racer meets on industrial estates, s, unlawful number plates, tailgating are a few examples.

How could any of this be properly resolved when so many other demands on the police force are deemed more important?

An efficient solution is clear! Multiple organised events for all of the above groups, in the same place, at the same time!

The police can attend the scene of resulting carnage and simply prosecute anyone who is still breathing.

So... Pick up some £300 untaxed, uninsured & unregistered barges and have a piss up well cruising them down the A1 at 20mph. I wonder how quick the armed response units would get there.

You can't really blame all cyclists, this event is just organized by professional agitators/anarchists being selfish prats.
And this is exactly why other countries have it so right. You can allow the poor/uneducated to come up to a level where they can have influence or cause disruption to the upper classes. As soon as you do, you have things like these mass cycling events going on.

Keep the peasants at the bottom and they won't be able to afford cycles or have more pressing matters than to wallow around on bicycles. Press them down and keep them down.

Most of the cycles I saw that night looked like they had been taken from the dump or stolen then given a quick going over with spray paint.

Almost no one had their saddles at the correct height biggrin

I have only really ever had one experience with a cyclist that has stuck in my head.
I was driving along a winding country road and came up behind a queue of slow moving vehicles, could not see what the hold up was. Finally got to the front of the slow moving convoy to see that the problem was caused by a cyclist wobbling along the gutter (he looked brand new at it),people were hesitant to pass him with the road being so windy hence the queue.
I thought fk this and went past him without waiting, cutting it a bit fine.Said cyclist was not impressed and started to pedal faster in an attempt to catch me (?). This really tickled me as I just thought 'I am in a car you knob, how fast do you think you can go'.
(It was funnier in real life).

Also says that on their facebook page.

In other words - they can't state they are standing up for the 'rights of cyclists' etc because of the numerous infarctions of the highway code committed by their participants - they would instantly be called out as hypocrites.

Instead they say that each person's reasons for being there are their own - that way they absolve themselves of any responsibility and can also deflect a lot of criticism too.

Funny I thought that too. Why is it lefties (and I include cyclists as a generic term there) think that whatever they want to do or think is always more important than everyone else?!?!
Yup. It seems to go, "I have something to say. Ooh, look at me." To which the overwhelming majority would reply, "Yes, and we've heard it before and we still think it's bks."

There are a few cases where what you could call "protests" in the sense of civil disobedience had genuinely led to a broader change in attitudes and then to political change. But they are few and far between.

In general if you hold a "fringe" view, humility dictates you should at least consider that you might be wrong.

Repeating the same point over and over again, more and more loudly, while inconveniencing the people whose opinions you're trying to alter is hardly likely to help your cause.
