I'm going to bite the bullet and get my APs looked at.

New rotors for the front (anyone tried Reyland?), and either new one-piecers for the rear, or what would be even better if it was feasible to get some bells made up for some separate rotors on the rear. Did find an old thread on it but not sure if anyone got anywhere - also see an issue with handbrake shoes - any solutions?

New pads are a given, but would also like the calipers stripped/tidied and rebuilt with new seals etc. anyone recommend anyone that could do this??

Hello,

Here is an answer to some of your questions, as I have had my AP's completely done

As for brakes, watch this space, and I am work with a company in the UK on that as we speak, which will stock discs and bells for the VXR8

Cheers

I tried emailing Martin at Reyland a couple of times, but he didnt respond.

For AP stuff, you could try Bob at BG Developments.

Or for more universal supplier including AP, Alyn at AS Performance in Newcastle

You could do a large alloy rear bell, but in terms of handbrake operation, it wouldnt really be ideal, probably wouldnt be that durable.

Yup sorry, its a monaro, but if there's scope to jump on the back of what you're doing...

Your refurb pics look excellent, just what I need.

The discs are so bleeding expensive, it almost becomes more sensible to ditch the entire set up and buy a new lot!

I've never even had the wheels off so dont know what the issue is, but what would be the problem with handbrake operation if they were separate bells/rotors?

The issue isnt them being separate, it's running the friction material against the aluminium "drum" for the handbrake.

I've seen it done on some cheap brake kits for Jap cars that use brake shoes for the handbrake, but it's never been very good

Has anyone made a braket kit to fit vxr8 clappers to a Monaro?

I'm fed up of my squeaking. Of my Harrops. And there rebuilt

Guys I work with BG Developments on a number of AP kits for a number of the Vauxhall range. We've been looking at doing an upgraded kit for my VXR8 for a year or so, but due to how busy they are, it's sat on the back burner.

If anyone wants any kits or discs, pads etc send me a PM and I can sort them out for you.

Bob doesn't work at BG anymore he's retired, it's run by Dave and Rob now.

They already produce the 2 piece rear disc/drum assembly that AP/HSV use on the Australian cars, so shouldn't be too difficult to sort the type of things that you guys are discussing.

dust guards were always the problem with the Harrops, good brakes but not for everyday use on our roads unfortunately

I know what you're thinking, and yes.

There was a CV8 that someone on here put on ebay. I saved the details from the advert, as I thought it was a good idea.

Front discs - Range Rover supercharged 360X30. Rear discs - BMW X5/X6 345X24. Calipers - AP Racing VXR8 4-pot.

That all fitted under 18" CV8 wheels as well.

Can't remember if it was the same one, but there was a thread on here where someone used (I think) vantage calipers and discs of some kind of BMW X series, and I think he has the drawings to make more.

Could be very interested.

It's my tears that squeak all the time. I have tried a few things with no success.

Only other option is a different material of pad.

I guess any 5x120 pcdfri ts could be made work.

Rears are the issue?? Having to sort the handbrake. New rear hub covers to mount the handbrake to I guess.
