Is this another, "Oh look at me. I've a helmet cam and I'm going to wind someone up so that I can have a YouTube moment?"

surely the cyclist is guilty of road rage as soon as he opens his mouth. Everything else stems from there. The van guy ought to have kicked the st out of him. Justifiable homicide.

no matter who started the arguing, this is a great example of why watching the road must always come first

The cyclist complained about the van driver overtaking him. Well,so what? I don't think there's anything in law to suggest that a motorist cannot overtake a cyclist.

you can't see the footage but i suspect it was a totally futile overtake in almost stationary traffic - to the point where the van driver probably had to pull in and stop right infront of the cyclist pretty much cutting him up. whilst this is not technically a matter for the cyclist to get too animated about, it was probably a daft move that showed no thinking going on with the van driver - and hence frustration by the cyclist is understandable.

none of this excuses rear ending another car. that is just reckless/without due care.

Having watched the full video on Youtube it's just an absolute nothing incident that gets turned into something by matey boy with the camera on his head.

All I see there is a van driver who misjudged that traffic had stopped in a lane he was trying to move into.

Happens all the time or have I missed something?

From what I can tell both cyclist and VD had moved on after the initial verbals. VD was probably intent on giving the cyclist a mouthful and not looking where he was going. The accident was caused primarily by lack of attention on the VD's part. He was probably even more aggrieved when Cyclist caught the bump on camera and offered to be a witness to the accident.

The camera cyclist kind of has a reputation in the online community for overreacting to little situations and, I quote, 'screaming like a girl'. But experiencing driving like the example below might colour your view on dealing with traffic:

But yes, if all road users calmed down a bit in everything they did, then it would be much safer for everyone.

I skim read your first sentence and read it as 'as far as I can tell the cyclist had VD'. getmecoat

The bloke on a bike is an idiot, if you want to filter like that you have to expect it.

Ah pistonheads, the google of dull helmet cam videos and homoerotic rants about cyclists.

Why was he not in the cycle lane all the way down the road, then not going round the roundabout but straight lining it.

Not exactly a great example of cycling well.

Interesting to note that the cyclist nearly wipes out a pedestrian as he's chasing the car that had the temerity to overtake him.

Cycling like a loon on the pavement- well we all know about that now.

After watching the whole thing, the biker is a 'parent' road-user and helped instigate the bump. Bit of a prick. Reminds me of Alan Partridge or similar.
