Had faultless use of my Chim for 18 months, I took for quick 30 mile spin yesterday but it started raining so I headed back home, On a roundabout it just died, ignition lights on but no life. I noticed straight away that the imobilisoer light was not on. I clicked the remote but instead of activating/deactivating the imobiliser on it's first click it locked/unlocked the doors/ alarm. So it looks like the imobiliser part is dead. The engine turns over fine but you cannot hear the pump priming. Looked at some old discussions and some say that the imobiliser can be by passed, any advice.

It died on a roundabout......when you stopped at the give way line, or when you hit a rut in the road, or clipped the kerb, while cornering hard on the roundabout itself?

Afternoon, I was being a good boy, i had just entered the roundabout the surface was smooth...well as smooth as it can be in a TVR, low speed, no issues. I have checked the inertia switch just in case. My main issue is the imobiliser light not illuminating, but the alarm locking and unlocking as usual

Good, so that has eliminated that. It fitted the symptoms if you had tripped the inertia switch (I have managed it once, going sideways into a gravel trap at Mallory Park - completely fooled me when I couldn't restart the car).

Immobiliser I agree, is the main possibility that comes to mind. I had mine stall at a roundabout and not restart. Sat there feeling very stupid in lane 2 of 3, traffic all around. Hopped out and pushed the car to the side, then called my TVR guy. He suggested locking and unlocking the car, and bingo, that fixed it. But I had had the whole system changed only two years ago, so wasn't expecting issues.

One thing that gets suggested is to give the dash top a smart thump on the passenger side, as the immobiliser has a relay which can stick.
There is a way to bypass the immobiliser, someone will come along who knows the method and will email it to you.
Finally, Carl Baker is one of the people who can fix the thing, and he may well tell you how to get the car going so that you can get it to him. www.tvruk.tv

You mentioned the cut-off switch.

When I went over the curbs at Curborough last week, it triggered the inertia cut-off switch and of course the engine stopped.

After two minutes of trying to start the car I realised what it was, located and pressed the switch and all was well.

It is amazing that such a small thing would trigger the switch.

Good luck with finding your problem.

This ^^^^ I used to have a dodgy connection at my heater switch,
At a junction the heater stopped,,, banged dash a little to firmly and got heater working,, but engine died instantly.
It's worth finding cut off switch and checking to be sure.
