We went to the Stamford car show yesterday. It started raining and in the rush to get the roof back on I managed to lock my keys in the boot. curse

The other half, who I call 'Handbrake' because all I hear is 'slow down' or 'are you going to stop at the junction?' etc, started to panic.

"Calm down dear, all I need is a screwdriver."
"It'll be embarrassing when the AA van comes"
"I just need to find a screwdriver"
"Its a bank holiday and all the shops are shut!"
"Its a car show. Someone will have a screwdriver I can borrow"
"I'm not sitting on a soggy seat all the way home" and so on, and on, and .......

Next to us were 3 Chims. One was Pupp's (nice to meet the face) and another with its boot open. Hoping against hope and this bloody marvellous chap had a selection of screwdrivers in his car.woohoo So set to work and after poking the hole for a couple of minutes, huge relief and it popped.

Just wanted to thank my unnamed rescuer who saved me from a lot of earache. clap

it wasn't me.....but I am paranoid about doing just that myself.
And I don't even know the emergency way into the boot.

Not sure, I didn't meet up with any of the other TVR owners, I just dropped by as I was passing and parked up next to a very nice T350.

Not me with the screwdriver, but it was probably Steve's bright orange T350.

Got completely laughed at by other TVR owners for locking my keys in the boot a few weeks ago at Shelsley BC.
Took the Sat-Nav out the window to put in the boot and must of had my keys in my hand at the same time. Closed the boot and went to take keys out of the ignition and a look of horror, quick fumble through my pockets to reach the conclusion "I did didn't I"

I Knew the method but where is the tool needed... Yeah in the boot smile Had a lovely breakfast then borrowed what is needed from Dave who is a member on here.

But if I was dumb enough to lock them in there once I'm pretty sure it can happen again so now keep the "said" tool in the cubbyhole behind the seat.

laugh I didn't realise it was a key misplacement issue; naturally assumed the solenoid was playing up!

Disappointing TVR turnout compared to previous years. cry
On arrival one solitary mid-blue Chim and never saw the owner all day. Then Pupp parked next to me so some willy waving re turbos. Another blue Chim with Le Mans stripes arrived with the nice man, the very nice man who had the tool. Later the T350 and finally the red Cerb which must have been Gruffalo's?
Last year the club were there, east Midlands I think, who made us very welcome.
At the other end of the field saw another Chim behind a white wedge. Didn't get a chance to speak as the rain came then.

Yep, done that myself Jason. Ironically after the first 'helpful' soul offered me a broken implement saying "Oh, it's a TVR, now I know why you need it!" it was a passing policeman who assisted with 'confiscated equipment'. Job done! "Thank you officer" I said, "...for helping me break into my own car." Common sense prevailed and we both laughed.

I was the blue chim at the other end of the field, and was directed there having been on the rally run in the morning. The rally was brilliant and worth joining should they run it next year and you can get a place.

The EM region are usually there in greater numbers, but many were at Blenheim this year, or planned to be at least before the weather turned nasty. When I posted the event on the TVRCC EM forum I think there were only 3 people that had managed to get a ticket in advance.

I personally think there was an issue with tickets in advance this year, and quiet a few were put off by the fact it was fully booked in June, with a very clear message from the organisers to not turn up until after 11:00 if you did not have a ticket, with it then being 1 out, 1 in policy. Shame really as they did actually have a number of spaces available, helped no doubt by the poor weather. If it had been sunny and warm I think they would have had a massive problem turning people away.

I did speak to the organisers about the event, rally and tickets, and they are learning year on year how they can make it better. It is almost a victim of its own success, and could easily be 2 or 3 times the size if they had the space.

Still it is a great event and one of my favourites of the year. It is nice to be able to walk in to Stamford and get a bit of lunch before heading back to the show.

I was booked into the rally until 48 hours before kick off but health reasons prevented me taking part. The route looked good. I've got a reservation for next year's so may see you there?

A good show this, a victim of its own success as it can be busy on a nice day. Stamford is a really nice place with more coffee shops per square mm than anywhere I know.
