As title, Mrs Saleen has one of these on her list to replace her current DS3 diesel, anyone have one and can give me real world mpg figures for it?

Her other choice is another DS3 but the THP D Sport model (which I know will return less mpg)

Got one in the family honest answer for motorway mid 40's (1.2 90PS). Around town high 30's generally but low 40's may be possible if not heavy traffic. Haven't tried the 1.0 110PS version but suspect achieving economy requires constant gear changes to stay within the ideal economy band.

The more powerful BlueGT is the same economy real world.

If your looking at the older 1.2tsi old shape then around 40s although their seems to be a growing issuse with the chain tensors failing failing on the 1.2

I think the 140/150PS GT model is really good if budget allows or look at the new 3-cylinder model.

Yeah I would definitely seek out a BlueGT if you can find one. The 1.4 TSI ACT engine is really superb and a nice upgrade over the 1.2 TSI. I'm not a fan of the R-Line trim, just adds a few cosmetic bits but no additional features or functionality.

Showed her the BlueGT....doesn't like the seats with the blue bits and prefers the look of the R Line, we are now looking at A1 S Line cars, of course it has to be a certain colour, have the embossed seats etc etc rolleyes

The blue GT has a option of black leather & Alcantara which could solve that issue

Considered the Ibiza / Fabia too? Same engine / chassis etc.

Cam tensioners is, as mentioned, a known problem on the 1.2tsi (not sure about the 1.4). Listen for significant "rattle" on cold starts.

ETA: Wife's 1.2 ibiza (60 plate) was giving ~45mpg with a mix of town and motorway driving.

Not heard anything about chain tensioner problems though, will have a google
1.2 N/A(60/70ps) and 1.2 TSI (105) 2009-2013 have a faulty tensioner. Now that the fist of these vehicles are reaching 60-70k miles there are stories appearing on various VW forums of failures and engine rebuilds or full replacements needed, most cases Volkswagen deny any issues.

6R polo's >2013 the tensioner was re-designed and replaced the old one seen in <2013, and now the 6C has been released going back to a cam belt.....

As advised above, on startup there will be a noticeable 'rattle', which many fob off online as cold fuel lines, or noisey tappets, but it appears to be indeed a loose timing chain.........

I had the lower half of my engine severely damaged due to the tensioner issue which needed rebuilt.Since posting online, I have had 6 others contact me via email saying the same thing has happened with their 1.2 6R

I would avoid these like the plague TBH, unless it comes with a VW franchise year warranty and you dump it after that.
